Miru is Mira, the girl you save in Wayward Cave. You can also double battle with her in Battle Tower.

Pairing: Miru/Hikari (hinted, but really small child obsession)
Words: 450 even
Note: One of the many pointless shortfics I've written in the past week. If I get a positive reception (from something so boring?), I might try and post my other drabbles later. Heh...review if you want.

Admiration

Hikari. Was. Awesome. She was the definition of awesome.

That's all anyone needed to know. Well, according to a certain, red haired child of course. And it was like a dream when Hikari came up to her and asked to be her partner for the double battles.

Miru had to agree; of course she would! Miru would be an idiot to turn Hikari down. The young trainer thought to herself, hurrying off into the elevator.

Fighting with Hikari was supposed to be a dream, supposed to be totally awesome. It was all fine 'till...'till the seventh match–the last match.

"Damn it." Hikari muttered, calling back her fainted Pokemon. Her eyes flickered over to her partner for a second before she took a step back, watching the battle angrily.

"Togekiss! Air Slash!" Miru commanded, pointing to the wounded Typhlosion; it would take one hit. She knew it would take one hit. Then Hikari will see how much I've improved, and she'll be proud of me. She saved me, and now Miru will save her right back.

But the trainer's Typhlosion dodged the attack effortlessly, and he quickly yelled "Now! Fire Blast!". And Miru knew it was all over. Togekiss took the blast straight-on, hit the ground hard and fainted instantly.

Hikari clapped and walked over to her partner as she called her Pokemon back. "Thanks for being my partner, Miru. It was a great match."

Miru just stared at her, and didn't move at all when she was pulled in for a tight hug. Water slowly began to well up in her eyes, "I-I'm sorry, Hikari. We lost because Miru's Pokemon weren't strong enough. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." She sniffed and closed her ruby eyes, the tears trailing down her face.

Hikari pulled away, keeping both of her hands on the girl's shoulders and grinned, "It was a team effort, Miru. It's also my fault too that we lost; there's no reason to cry. But hey, I'm really impressed. Both you and your Pokemon have grown since I last saw you at Wayward Cave."

"Y-you really think so, Hikari?"

"Chyeah. So hey, same time tomorrow?"

And Miru's eyes widened, "You want to battle with me again? Really?"

Hikari stood, but not before planting a small kiss on the child's cheek, "Pshaw, of course. So it's a deal; see you later!" She waved and skipped out the room, humming a song to herself.

Miru sniffed again, wiping away the tears furiously with her tiny hands, and smiled broadly. Yeah, Hikari was awesome and Miru wanted to be just like her when she grew up. She was gonna train hard so her dream would come true; that's all anyone else had to know.
