The wind gusted over Lukas Nielsen like a gentle sigh. He sat on an old gray dock, staring out across the gray sea in its vastness, the bleak early morning light just beginning to peek across the distant horizon. His contemplative mood had arrived to him just before daybreak, so, carefully he crawled out of his warm and soft bed and away from the mumbling of his sleeping roommate. He found himself walking through his small seaside town, past closed shops and sleepy looking houses before he walked to the end of the dock, shivering in the cold, and sat.

As he sat, he thought, and his mind wandered back to his roommate. Lukas had long since known what he felt about Matthias, but prefered to ignore these emotions. Whatever he felt about him, he knew in his heart it would never be returned. Matthias was outgoing, he understood how to communicate with people in a way that had never come naturally to Lukas. He was kind and open hearted, and Lukas knew he had no reason to feel special for being his friend. This often frustrated him, how to Matthias he was just another person to pass the time with, but inversely, Lukas felt that Matthias was the sun and moon and earth around him.

The sun climbed ever slowly into the sky, and a wave of sudden sadness hit Lukas. Before he could stop them, tears rushed to his eyes and began their trails down his cold-flushed cheeks. The sadness he held burst forth in a soft wail, which immediately brought him great embarrassment. Just as this sudden and unwelcome bout of emotion struck him, a gentle voice called from behind.

"Lukas?" It was Matthias. He stood in the chill morning breeze with his pajamas still on, looking worried. The sun had risen further, and he squinted into it trying to identify his friend. Lukas attempted to compose himself before finally nodding back to him. He came to Lukas then, sitting beside him and letting his feet dip into the water.

They sat together in silence, before Matthias, in a sudden motion pulled Lukas to his chest and held him there. This brought forth more tears from Lukas, who spent this small moment clinging to the boy he loved for dear life and silently crying into his pajama shirt. Matthias began to comb through Lukas' hair with the fingers of one hand and rubbing his back with the other. Lukas pushed himself further into Matthias' body and soaked in the moment, hoping the connection he felt would someday be shared, that they'd be lovers someday.

Thank you dearly for reading. This is my first attempt at writing fanfiction, and I hope it was somewhat enjoyable despite how short it is. If anyone out there likes this and wants more, I'll definitely try writing again. Thank you for your time!
