I pressed play and just sat there watching them. It had taken me so long to find the perfect song, but it was worth the wait. Every lyric described them so perfectly, it was almost scary. I have never loved, or hated, a song more.

She was wearing this metallic almost olive colored dress and he was wearing a tuxedo. Obviously either coming from or leaving for a date. They did that sometimes, just sneak off without telling me. Sometimes though I got to join them on fabulous adventures.

"Here I am waiting; I'll have to leave soon."

The song finally started, echoing off the walls and making the room buzz with noise. They both jumped slightly, but didn't try and search for the source of the sound. This wasn't the first time I had hidden and played a song just to watch them dance; they were very used to it by now.

The song was slightly fast paced yet they still danced slowly and romantically. They wrapped their arms around each other and simply swayed back and forth. I think that they are just happy to be together.

"And when the daylight comes I'll have to go. But, tonight I'm gonna hold you so close."

He whispered something to her and for the life of me I couldn't hear it. I wasn't meant to. I sort of didn't want to. It was private, for her ears only.

She pulled back from him slightly to look at him and I could have sworn he wiped a tear from her cheek. I couldn't tell if the cause was happy or sad. I think it was both.

"But tonight I need to hold you so close."

She settled herself back against him and closed her eyes. I really wish that I could offer some form of comfort. I know how much this situation hurts the both of them.

He spun her around unexpectedly and she let out a startled giggle. At least for right now they can be happy.

The glances I caught them sharing held more love than any word or sentiment ever could and it made me inexplicably sad.

"I was afraid of the dark, but now it's all that I want, all that I want."

Tears leaked from my eyes because it was just so unfair. I knew what was going to happen. I had found out a long time ago. This was her last dance, last night, with him. Tomorrow would only bring death and heart break.

At the end of the song he pulled her in for a loving kiss. The first, and last, words I heard of the night were spoken by her when they pulled apart, "Until our next night my love." She whispered. And then she just left.

I cried myself to sleep.
