"GET AWAY FROM HIM!" Gwen yelled as she ran towards the Lamia with her sword held tightly in her hand. She thrust the sword into the Lamia and fell to the ground. Merlin sat there and watched as it screamed in pain and anger. Then it looked at them with fire in its eyes.
"We're going to die," was the only thing Merlin could think of as all of this happened. "We're going to die and Arthur won't ever know what happened."
Merlin looked over at Gwen. She was panicked and looked like she was about to cry at any moment. No one could blame her though. She also thought they were going to die in that horrible place. Merlin could only think of one way out, and it was risky. But he had no choice. It was either do it or die. He looked over at Gwen again. He wasn't sure how she would react. But Merlin could not hesitate. He raised his hand, and his eyes started to glow.
"Ablinn ðu, forlæte ðu!" Merlin practically screamed the incantation for the spell. The Lamia flew backwards and hit the wall. He couldn't even get the courage to look at Gwen. He knew that she would probably hate him now, maybe even tell Arthur about his magic if they ever got out. But nevertheless, she still used the time that the Lamia was stunned to get up and run. Merlin followed. But it was too fast for them. The Lamia had recovered and was back up in less than a minute.
"We're not going to make it, we're not going to make it," Gwen kept muttering under her breath. The Lamia gained speed and continued to chase them. All Merlin could do was make some obstacles to stop it. He made more walls tumble down as they kept running. Gwen grabbed Merlin and turned left, the only way they could go. That was when they reached the dead end. And the Lamia was blocking their only way out.
"Merlin!" she kept whispering frantically. "Use it, use your ma..."
His eyes, once again, were starting to glow gold. He was going to save them both. The Lamia fell to ground, with a sword sticking out of its back. And on the other side of the sword was...
"Arthur!" Gwen smiled as she ran up to Arthur and jumped on him, giving him a big hug. She looked over Arthur's shoulder and stared at Merlin. He just stared back.
At the village, Gwen avoided him. Merlin knew that it was a lot to deal with. He saw how she reacted to Morgana's magic. As he was thinking, Arthur and Gwen walked up to him.
"Oh, no. Please don't tell me that she told Arthur about my magic!" Merlin panicked. They continued walking.
"So how does it feel to be saved by a girl?" Arthur teased. Merlin felt relieved. She didn't tell. He gave her a look of thanks.
"Better than dying!" Merlin replied normally.
"Getting saved by a girl..." Arthur held his hands up. "Or dying? I don't know, that's a hard one!"
"Arthur, I didn't save Merlin. He saved me," Gwen told him. "He was the one who injured the Lamia."
Merlin had his eyes wide. She was going to tell him about his magic. He was panicking again. He thought she would at least not tell anyone after what they've been through.
"And how did he do that?" Arthur asked in disbelief.
"With this!" Gwen held up the sword she used to stab the Lamia. Both Merlin and Arthur stared at the sword. Then Merlin exhaled in relief.
"That would've been a sight to see," Arthur said at last. And then he walked away.
Merlin turned to Gwen. "Thank you."
"That's what friends are for," she assured him.
