A Tale of Dragons
Out of hell and heaven's fire rose,
To break heart and bone,
And forge a love unknown,
They came to break Earth's repose.
They came unknown to mankind,
With rock hard teeth and jaws,
Iron spikes and deadly claws,
Strong in body and in mind.
They came to aid and to dominate,
Ruling every creature, every race,
Through endless time and endless space,
To strike fear and to exhilarate.
Some came not to kill but advise,
They opened their minds and offered their backs,
But to others these characteristics lacked,
They came with a will to hate and despise.
But as time went by, as time may,
The human race started to ignore,
The very creature that was at the heart of folklore,
And they began to fade away.
Gone from their earthly domain,
Driven away by hatred and fear,
Never again to reappear,
The few believers begin to wane.
But if we throw away all thoughts of gain,
If we believe and strive to see,
What our world could be,
The Dragons will come again.
