There's Something About Edin

A One-Shot

Note: So I was playing through Seisen no Keifu. I check the Fortune Teller every time I encounter a castle, to check on the relationships.

At one point, not only did the expected four have Edin on their minds (Mideel, Jamka, Azel, and Dew), but also Noish, Lex, Alec, Beowulf...

So that was a good part of the inspiration for this fic. That, and finding very few good Seisen no Keifu fanfics.

"Ah, Lady Edin..."

Mideel sighed dreamily as he thoughtlessly speared wave after wave of enemy with arrows. There she was, angelic as ever, always tending to the wounded with a radiant smile. His love for her was without bounds. One day, certainly, he would muster up the courage to confess.

"T-thank you!" Azel stuttered, blushing. His wounds were completely gone.

Edin nodded graciously. "I am always glad to be of assistance. Stay safe!"

Mideel frowned. The mage. He couldn't possibly be courting her, could he?

"Prince Jamuka, you should really be more careful."

"Sorry, Edin. I wasn't paying enough attention to my surroundings, that's all."

Edin furrowed her brow anxiously. "If you stayed in the back row, you wouldn't get wounded so. I'll be praying for your safety."

Praying for his safety? She hadn't said that to Mideel lately. He shot an arrow straight through an unfortunate brigand's head. He'd show him just who was the more dependable archer, oh yes.

"Edin, Edin!"

"Hmm?" Edin looked down. "Oh, hello Dew! Is something the matter?"

Dew shook his head, beaming. "Nah." He held up a large, heavy-looking sack. "I thought since, y'know, repairs are expensive and stuff..."

Edin clasped her hands together in delight. "How thoughtful!"

Mideel stared in slack-jawed disbelief. No, it couldn't be, could it? He was, what, twelve years old?

"That Edin sure is something, eh Lex?"

"Yeah, I didn't understand what was up with Azel at first, but after a few times getting healed by her... she's a real looker, lemme tell you that."

"You understate her worth. She's no 'mere looker', but dignified, kind, and beautiful."

"Haha, you too, Finn?"

"I... I'm speaking from a merely objective perspective, of course."

"Come on, let's be serious. I think we're all agreed that Lady Edin is a woman of great merit."

"I wish she'd notice me..."

"Adan, you don't have a shot in hell."

Mideel ran his horse straight into an mounted swordsman. Sensing an opportunity, the swordsman slashed him twice.

The pain brought him back into focus. Wincing, he rode back a few paces and fired off four arrows in quick succession.

"Mideel! Are you hurt?" Edin ran to him, a look of concern on her face.

"A mere scratch, my lady." Mideel stared in awe. No matter how many times he saw her, she was still a veritable angel in the flesh.

Edin bit her lip, touching Mideel's arm. "Oh, you're bleeding! I beg you, stand still for a moment..." Mideel obliged. She held up her staff. A white light swept over him, and the slashes dissapeared without a trace.

Edin sighed in relief. "Thank goodness. Take care, Mideel!"

Mideel watched with regret as she hurried to the next patient. With so many suitors in line for her, he didn't stand a chance.

Unless...

"My lady!"

Edin paused, turning her head. "Yes?"

He rode up to her easily. "It's fairly dangerous out here. If you'd like, I'll stay back and guard you..."
