The Three Muskebeaters

November 22nd,2016 12:30 PM

In a medium sized dark room, three friends were waiting for the official launch of the popular VRMMO SWORD ART ONLINE. The three friends couldn't be older than 16 each. The one with glasses spoke up,"what's our first plan when we log in Jesus?" The one now known as Jesus responded "It's easy. First of all we should meet up and start grinding outside the Town of Beginnings. After all, we do want to clear that boss first right?" "Yeah!" Screamed the third character in the room. "Calm down Ulisis, we still have half an hour to plan our strategy to beat the first floor boss in three hours" stated John, the boy with glasses. The three teenagers sat there until it was time to get ready for the official launch at 1:00.

Time Skip to 12:58

"Alright guys, do we have everything ready?" asked the leader of the group Jesus. "Snacks?"

"Check!" responded Ulisis. "Drinks?" "Check" responded John. They all hooked up their NerveGears and waited for the clock to hit 1:00. The clock currently read 12:59. The three teens waited in anticipation for the game they were lucky enough to play before it's official release. Yes, these three were part of the 1,000 player beta. They are some of the luckiest people on the planet. They each shared a nod to one another.

Immediately once the clock hit one, the three friends shared a phrase that would change their lives forever, whether they wanted it or not.

"LINK START!"

The three teens entered in all of their information and kept their player models from the beta to maximize time efficiency. After all they needed to beat the first floor boss on their own to establish the dominance they had in the beta.

In the Town of Beginnings, three blue auras began to materialize what would soon become the saviors of thousands of people. Three figures appeared, the one on the left looked like a 18 year old. Slightly tan skin and the physical build of an average swordsman. The cursor above his avatar showed his IGN, which read 'Jokee'. The one on the right was a bit shorter, looking like the age of 16. He had the same skin color as the one on the left. Similarly to the one on the left, the cursor above his avatar showed his IGN 'Ranch'. Finally the boy in the middle materialized. He was about in the middle of height between the two people to his side. He had the same skin tone as the two boys next to him. His IGN, Choy.

The three boys, took off in a sprint towards the field outside the town of beginnings. They each took out an Iron Sword and began to fight the bores. Their swords danced gracefully across the bores that inhabited the plains.

Time Skip to 3:30 Pm

Roughly around two hours and a half of grinding mobs around the plains, the three players leveled up to around level 10. Now, that may be an impossible task to do, but these players were not new to the game. They knew how to farm effectively and efficiently. They decided that they were ready to face the first floor boss.

"Do you think it's going to be in the same part of the tower Choy?" asked Ranch. "I would assume so, I don't think they'd change something like that over the course of a week." responded Choy.

So the trio headed to where the boss room was in the beta test.

Time Skip to Boss Room

"Okay guys, remember the plan. We each take turns stunning the boss with a sword skill while one of you use your best sword skills to deal as much damage. We know the attack patterns of the boss so we should be fine. The only one left of us will take in the Ruin Kolbold Sentinels. We can do this!" cheered Choy.

The three players pushed open the door that led to the boss room. When they finally stepped inside, the room lit up. It was a very rainbow/mosaic feel to the room. On a throne to the very back of the room, a big hog like monster sat. The boss then jumped to the middle of the room, ready to take on its challengers. The name on top of the boss read Illfang the kolbold lord. The three beta testers smirked as the boss sent out its disposable minions.

Quickly taking charge as usual, Choy initiated the fight by barking orders, "Ranch, Jokee on the boss, at quarter health, Jokee switch out with me. I'll watch your guys' back." Without hesitation Ranch and Jokee gave a simple nod and sprinted towards the boss. Naturally Ranch took the front and used a sword skill, linear to stun the boss while Jokee performed numerous swipes knowing linear wouldn't buy him enough time to activate a sword skill. Jokee took Ranch and proceeded to do the same thing over and over again.

Meanwhile with Choy, he was having little to no trouble the minions. They were like the pack of wolves they killed for EXP. Choy was having a fun time, parrying mace attacks to doing ferocious combos that made him one of the best players in SAO. Choy looked at how his friends were doing. The boss was nearly dead and Choy called a Tag In. A Tag In was a switch but without the other person getting out. It was basically lemme get in on this. It wasn't a mechanic recognized by the system, but something they had made together. Together, the three teens used a sword skill and finished off the boss. They had found out the first floor boss had a glitch that duplicated the last attack bonus if hit at the exact same time by numerous amount of players. These three all received a congratulations menu and a last attack bonus. The last attack bonus was The Cloak of Tides Wrath. It was a dark cloak as the name suggested tide, as it has to do with the moon.

After unlocking the gate to the second floor, the three players decided it was an adequate time to have some snacks. The first to attempt to log out was Jokee. He noticed the logout button wasn't there were it was supposed to be. "Aye guys, where's the logout button? It's not where it's supposed to be." asked Jokee. Ranch and Choy looked at Jokee as if he were a complete beginner. Opening their menus at the same time, they noticed the exact same thing, but before they could say anything, they were enveloped in a blue light.

Town Of Beginnings-Starting Plaza

After materializing into the plaza, the three players looked around and saw the same aura thousands and thousands of times.

"Force teleport." calmly stated Ranch.

After that statement, the sky began to fill with hexagons that read 'Warning' and 'System Announcement'.

"Maybe a GM is going to talk about the logout button missing or something." said a relaxed Jokee.

A blood like substance started to drip from the hexagons. Screams could be heard and people began to freak out. The blood like substance formed a shadowy figure that had no face. The figure had a red cloak with gold lining around the hood and sleeves. The figure began to speak.

"Hello everyone, to the official launch of SWORD ART ONLINE. Many of you may or may not know me. My name is Akihiko Kayaba, creator of this world. Some of you have noticed something missing from your settings, The Logout button. No this is not a bug, I repeat this is not a bug. This is how SAO was meant to be played. You can no longer log out and no one from the outside can either. If someone from the outside tries to take off the NerveGear from your head, it will send microwave signals to your brain, destroying it thus ending your life. Many people have not heeded my warning and now 213 people have been deleted from Aincrad, and the real world. The only way to logout of SAO is to beat all 99 floors of this game. I know what you are all thinking. 'Kayaba, there are 100 floors in Castle Aincrad.' Why yes there are but, three players have managed to beat the first floor boss already. So you can thank them personally if you wish. Jokee, Ranch, and Choy beat the first floor boss with ease. Two more things, there is no way to revive a player in SAO. To put it simply, if you're health reaches zero. You will die in real life. Have fun and be safe players, I wish luck to all of you."

There was an eerie silence after the announcement Kayaba just made. You could hear a pin drop from floor 100. Players stood there, in awe at what the genius had just said. Was it true? Are there now 9,787 players left in Aincrad?

"Last but not least, everyone check your inventory. I have left something of great value in there." said Kayaba, before all of the remaining players took out a mirror. After taking it out of their inventories, a blue light started to envelope the whole plaza. After the light died down, the plaza was filled with new faces and different avatars. The three looked at each other in disbelief. They looked like they did IRL. Jokee was six feet flat. He had the body type of a very strong and athletic young man. His face was a very light tan and he had glasses. Ranch was about 5'8. He had the body type of a very fast runner. His face was somewhat pale but had a little tan. Choy was 5'11, middleweight and bulky, tan with nice long hair. About 12 inches long.

The three took for the second floor. They knew Kayaba wasn't messing around. He had the technology and they wanted to get home as quick as possible. As they were exiting the plaza, they heard the screams and cries of every player still inside. Ranch first broke the eerie silence between the three, "Do you guys think we'll make it out alive? I mean 100 floors without dying! That's unrealistic, people will die and we probably will be the ones to die if we aren't careful! Maybe we should just sit back and let other people play, see how far they can get and help later on. We'll be safe in the first town." Ranch had a point, letting other people play would reduce the risk of one of them dying by 100%. "What are you, Scared? Come one Uli, we both know they'll come looking for us eventually. They know we beat the first boss on our own, they'll seek our guidance. For now we should just level up and try to become stronger. Get our old gear back and see from there." Said Jokee. Choy looked at his life long and agreed with him. "Yea Ranch, we have to keep going if we want to see our families again."

Before they knew it, they were at the teleportation gate heading to the second floor. "Teleport Urbus". They said in unison. After the blue light died down, they were in a town surrounded by a savanna realm covered in plains and boulders. They took for the martial artist's house in order to receive the quest for the skill Martial Arts. When they arrived to the location, the npc greeted the three, "Hello travelers! I will offer you a special skill if you are able to break that boulder that's blocking the entrance to my garden, while only using your fists." The three quickly accepted the quest and got to punching. That's all there was to this quest. Punching a boulder till it broke. After 15 minutes of repeated punching, the boulder broke and the three received the skill.

After receiving the skill, they headed to some fields to train and gain some experience to level up. Their mindset was to finish this death game as quick as possible without any distractions.
