RAIN AND A RING
A/N: Prompt from Anon on Tumblr. "Swan Queen Marriage proposal. Just Vague enough I think. ;)"
Emma's boots hammered into the pavement as she ran through the rain. Her clothes soaked through, chilling her to her very core. She could almost make out the swiftly retreating form a block ahead of her.
"Regina!" she screamed. Splashing water wildly with each foot fall.
Regina continued without hesitation. Her shoulders visibly slumped.
"REGINA! Please. WAIT." She pleaded desperately. Regina slowed as she heard Emma run up behind her.
"How could you?" Regina sobbed. Coming to a stop as Emma's hand gently tugged on her elbow from behind.
"Regina. Please. I didn't forget. I promise.." Emma tried to explain but was cut off sharply as Regina spun around. Fixing Emma with a look that broke her heart.
"No! YOU can't get out of this. HOW could you forget my BIRTHDAY?"
Emma was taken back by raw emotion on the brunettes voice.
"Baby. I didn't." Emma calmly reached up, placing her hands on Regina's face. Rain soaked tendrils sticking to her face and neck lightly brushed aside with Delicate thumbs.
Regina's face showed all the signs of a defeated, broken woman. Emma fel a pang in her chest, knowing she'd been the cause.
"Yes you did.." Regina protested again.
"No." Emma reaffirmed. Rain falling all around them like a blanket.
Emma kept her palms on Regina's cheeks as she leaned in, kissing her Passionately. Another sob ripped through Regina's lungs.
Pulling back, Emma let her hands slide down Regina's neck and body as she kneeled onto one knee on the wet concrete. Taking Regina's hands into her own.
Regina's eyes widened in disbelieve. Her mouth fell open as a tiny smile tugged at her features.
"Wh-what are you doing?"
Regina felt her heart beat quicken.
Emma smiled up at her. Unadulterated adoration And devotion lighting her face.
"Marry me, Regina?"
Regina smiled brighter than all the stars in the sky. Not missing a beat, Regina sank to the ground, kneeling in front of Emma. Holding their hands between them, Regina squeezed them tightly.
"Of course I will."
Emma felt her head spin with a euphoria she' never experienced. Letting go of the brunettes hands, wrapping her arms around her, she kissed her. Regina melted into The warm cocoon she found, wrapped up in Emma.
When she pulled back, rain slowing to a drizzle, Emma lifted Regina's left hand. Grasping it gently, Emma slid a white gold diamond ring on her finger before kissing the delicate knuckles.
Regina knew this was a birthday she would Never forget.
