Hi, people of fanfiction. I just finished the last book of this trilogy today and I felt inspired to write a tiny and quick little one-shot. No flames please!

"Alek, what are you doing," I said as he let his letter drop, the one that proved his right to the throne. "That's your future," I said. I may have loved him from the depths of my barking heart, but that didn't mean I was going to let him lose his future.

I stumbled around, trying to reach the letter as it flew away and plummeted to the dark, angry sea. I frowned as I watched it slowly sink into it, my heart feeling loss for Alek. "Deryn, I meant to let it fall. That was my past. I don't care anything about the past; all that matters is my future. And if I didn't throw the letter, I never could have done this," He said, moving his head closer to me, and then gently placing his lips on mine.

I knew at that moment, everything would be all right. My heart no longer yearning, the world was saved, and Alek was finally mine. Nothing could make the moment bad, for this is the happiest moment of my life.
