(This is a Fic for my pal Hikaru! Love ya lots and miss ya Hika-chan. Remember Hikaru WIN WIN WIN!)
The Only ExceptionRiku's marriage to Selphie was bittersweet for Sora. He was happy for his best friend to have found someone he loved but why couldn't Riku have loved him? As the best man he played his part, smiling and wishing his friend well. But inside the brunette was crying in pain. When everything was said and done he would never ruin Riku's moment.
Years past and Selphie gave birth to a baby boy named Keichii. Kairi and Sora were asked to be the godparents and they agreed happily. He looked just like his father with aqua eyes and silver hair. That same year the former keyblade master married Kairi. They kissed and smiled at their friends and family happily as they tied the knot and a little two years later Kairi gave birth to a baby girl. They named her Hikaru with her chocolate brown hair and dazzling blue eyes. Selphie gave birth a baby girl a few months later naming the girl Renji.
Hikaru and Keichii listened to Sora's stories about being a keyblade master and would go off to play fight with Renji cheering them both on. They were the best of friends. Keichii would brag about being the best and always saying he would protect his baby sister while Hikaru would pout and yell that she could protect Renji too. They would race and laugh playing like their parents did as children.
When Hikaru was 7 she witnessed something that would stay in her mind forever. She saw her father cry. It was while playing hide and seek with Renji and Keichii. Sora was holding a picture and crying. He sounded so heart broken that she couldn't help but run and hug him. He looked at her in shock but held her close.
"Daddy?" she asked hugging him.
"It's okay sweetie… Daddy will be better soon." She saw the picture of him and Riku together giving the camera a peace sign. She may have been a kid but she knew what was wrong.
"Daddy loved uncle Riku," she whispered.
Sora told her that he loved her mother but yes he did love Riku. He explained as best he could to her and she nodded. That's when she decided that she wouldn't fall in love. It only caused pain in the end.
What Hikaru didn't count on was that Love is like a car crash. You never see it coming.
It was while she, Renji and Keichii were swimming in the ocean one summer. Hikaru was 15 and Keichii was 17. Despite the sun his skin was always a milky white color. He had just taken off his shirt to lie in the sun when she felt a fluttering in her heart. They had always been together, treating each other like brother and sister. She always lived like this keeping a comfortable distance and up until then she sworn to herself that she was content with loneliness, because none of it was ever worth the risk.
Her oath was broken that year when she told Keichii of her feelings. She expected him to reject her but he simply pressed his lips to her own.
"I love you too Hikaru." His voice was like silk and she couldn't stop smiling as they shared another kiss.
"I swore I would never speak of love if it does not exist. But you are the only exception," she whispered to him and he held her close.
"Love is something no one expects."
The End
