Light Yagami and the famous L were engaging in a brutal game of tennis, to the bemusement of the many onlookers. Of course, very few knew that L was in fact L, thinking him to be a man named Hideki Ryuga. Mutters spread out, the rumors flying in all directions. In the crowd, no one payed attention the one brunette girl, who was struggling to get into the front of the crowd, her eyes set on Light Yagami with determination.
She was small, lithe, and cute. However, there was a flash in her eyes of steel, forewarning anyone who came too near.
The girl made it to the front of the crowd, and stood there as she watched the game, almost looking casual, if not for the angry determination in her eyes.
Finally, finally, the game ended, and the two men conversed for a few minutes, before they seperated and Light went to gather his things. The girl took her chance, and hurried over to him. "Light Yagami-san?" She asked, and the other turned around.
Quickly, his eyes narrowed, as he took in the appearance of a stranger. Blondish-brown hair, gray eyes, and a shorter-than average frame. She was oddly standing on her toes, as she had apparently been the whole time Light was playing tennis. Light smiled politely, but the welcoming look didn't reach his eyes. "Hello. Who are you?"
"My name is… Janet Curtis. I was wondering, are you not the son of Soichiro Yagami-san, whom is in the police force?"
Light's eyes narrowed. Who is this girl? What does she want? "Yes, that is correct. My father, he's quite busy. What could you ever want with him?"
"Ah, I was hoping you could introduce him to me, Yagami-san. You see, I've been told he's head of the Kira case, and I wish to join his forces.
So that's it. Light thought, forcing his features into a friendly smile. "Yes, he works under L, though. I suppose I could talk to him about you… Could I have your phone number, please?"
"Sure, here." Janet said, writing her name and phone number on a piece of paper, which Light accepted. Then she turned, walking away, still on her toes. "I'll be awaiting your call, Yagami-san."
"Yes." Light said, watching her walk into the distance, then muttering, "Like hell," As he pulled out a sheet from the Death Note, hurriedly writing the girl's name in it. Then he shoved the paper back into his bag, and walked on.
He was sure he would never see the girl again.
