Regrets shatter hearts so easily

I.
"But I thought you would catch me when I would fall."
"I used to think that but now… but now I guess I was wrong. I would have given everything to you, Yuri, but after this, I give up. I'm tired."
"But, Wolf-"
"Goodbye, your Majesty."
As Yuri watched Wolfram walk further away, somewhere deep down inside him, his heart was breaking
II.
"What is Wolfram doing now?"
Conrad eyed his godson with something akin to worry before replying, "He's currently in Cavalcade doing business. I heard he was going to stay until spring or winter."
"But he's going to miss my birthday and – never mind, just keep me updated okay, Conrad?"
The half-demon soldier tried to smile, thinking this was just a phase and that this unhealthy obsession with Wolfram will fade soon enough. It better or else Yuri's new born son will suffer.
"Conrad?"
Conrad blinked, seemingly going out of a trance, "Of course, your Majesty," he bowed. He needed to have a serious talk with Gwendal.
III.
"You know, your son's turning three soon."
Yuri inwardly cringed. That meant three years since Wolfram left. "Yes, I noticed."
"And he's going to bond with his element soon enough."
"Yup."
"And -"
Yuri sighed, putting down his pen and gave his friend an annoyed look. "What do you really want to say, Murata?"
"You need to spend more time with your wife and son, Yuri."
"She's not my wife."
The answer was so automatic that it surprised Murata a bit. "You married her. She's the mother of your child. Technically, yes, she is your wife so you really need to be taking care of her – them both."
"I am."
"Not emotionally, you're not."
"What the hell do you want me to do?" Yuri growled.
"Simple. Love her."
Then there was silence for a few minutes.
"How could I when every time I look at them, I see Wolfram's disappointed face." It was a mere whisper but to Murata it was loud and clear.
"It was not their fault, your Majesty." Murata's tone gave out a hard edge, "It was not there fault that it took Wolfram leaving for you to realize just how much you needed him. You entangled her in your mess. Be a man and take responsibility."
Yuri continued signing his documents.
IV.
Yuri frowned. Wolfram has not recognized him yet. Sure he was wearing a disguise but he was confident that Wolfram would be able to recognize him.
"Hello, your Majesty." An amused voice greeted him and to no surprise, it belonged to an orange-haired spy who was currently blonde and donning an overly decorated blue gown.
"Did Gwendal send you here?"
"Of course. We wouldn't want His Majesty to get hurt while he gatecrashes his ex-fiancé's engagement party, now would we?" Josak's confident grin annoyed Yuri to no end. "You do know this is considered as stalking."
"Shut up." Yuri snapped, not taking his eyes off Wolfram dancing with a handsome brunette. The blonde was actually laughing openly. He looked so… happy.
"What a wonderful couple they make, right, your Majesty?"
V.
Regrets shatter hearts so easily.
Regrets. So may regrets.
"Tell me, please tell me this isn't happening," Yuri pleaded, sounding pathetic but at that moment, he couldn't care less.
Conrad looked away, unable to take his Godson's state. His silent 'It is happening' reverberating inside Yuri's head.
Somewhere, church bells rang as a happy couple exchanged vows.
End.
Author's note: Just something I came up with while procrastinating for some big exam I had. This is kind of boring and was not how I pictured it but it will do for now.
