No this couldn't be happening. She thought. She ran across the wet brick path. She knew what had happened. Her shoes clicked as she ran.
The wind pushed her hair into her face. The blonde curls were pulled into a red, silk ribbon. As she ran, she held up her velvet red dress she wore, so she wouldn't trip.
I know he's there, I just know it, she though to herself.
She reached her destination, the bridge. She stopped suddenly.
Were was he? She tilted her head so she could see under the bridge. I know he took him. She ran to the other side of the bridge, splashing a puddle. The ribbon had now fallen out onto the brick road. She looked around franticly looking for him. Finally she gave up and fell to the road.
She looked at the ground tears in her eyes. She picked up the red ribbon. It had been wet from landing in the puddle. Her dress was getting wet from the road. She didn't care. Nothing mattered anymore.
Her hair fell into her face as she jerks her head down. The tears were flowing into her eyes. She leaned against a lamppost. No one could see her pale face behind her hair.
Why here, why now, why him? She thought. She heard the cars from the small town behind her. She notices a part of her dress was ripped. She pulled the rest off.
Stupid renaissance dress. She thought angrily. I only wore this for him. Stupid dress, stupid dance, stupid night, stupid him. No she took that last one back, not stupid, beautiful.
She took off the flat shoes she was wearing and tossed them to the other side of the bridge. Were was he, he had to be here. He wasn't dead she could feel it. A different Cinderella story she thought. I have no glass slipper and my prince went missing.
No nothing like a Cinderella story. She wanted there to be a happy ending, but she knew there would be none.
They took him. And won't let him go. The rain was taking her curls away, turning then a sandy blonde, to a rusty color.
She saw from the corner of her eye. A streetlamp was flickering on and off like a fire. After a few more flickers, it finally burnt out.
She wiped away the rest of her tears and stood up. She felt to weak to walk back. She realized she forgot her jacket in the rush. She pulled up her arms to hug herself to keep warm.
She slowly walked down the same path she went in. She still clutched the ribbon in her hand. He gave her this ribbon. She wondered if she would have the chance to let him see her wearing it again.
A ribbon, and a ring.
She had given him a ring with a bright red ruby to match the color of the ribbon.
She got distracted and fell. Then she realized were she was exactly. In a dark alleyway, she didn't care. She curled up into a ball and rolled onto her side, letting the rain fall down on her. She heard footsteps behind her.
I'm going to die before I see him again. She thought.
Then she felt a cold arm rest on her arm.
She jumped at the tempeture, and then smiled a warm loving smile.
