So I thought that it would be cool if I wrote the back story to Igneous and Monique's affair. Hope you like it!

Igneous POV

I look around to see everyone (Oh I thought it would just be easier for him to be able to see) bustling to get ready for my birthday. Honestly I would have been okay with a few friends hanging out. But hey you win some and you lose some. I see my older sister Princess Maxine walking around with her two ladies-wait why are there three? The familiar ones were Lady Lissa and Lady Ariel, but the third one I've never seen before. Her skin a beautiful, creamy mocha and her dark brown hair was delicately braided with a few purple flowers strewn into it. Wait, did I just say that? Geez Tess is really getting to me.

Yes Tess, my bride to be, at least that's what my parents say. If it were up to me I be single for the rest of my life but unfortunately I need a wife to keep up my 'image'. For Pete's sake I'm the coolest guy ever why did I need a girl draped all over me, it won't improve my image it will cramp my style. Sometimes it sucks to be me. Not that Tess isn't nice or anything, she's great! But we are more friend material not marriage material, but hey what can I do.

Crap the girl noticed me. I quickly hid behind the pillar and watched carefully as she followed my sister into the palace.

"You might not want to be the shade, you're already paler than sand," I heard voice say. I turned around to see a short figure in a colorful costume looking at me skeptically.

"Ah, the Royal Fool I could use some cheering up," I said sarcastically and he punched me in the shoulder. The Royal Fool is my best friend the Gasman, Gazzy for short. We've been best friends ever since he stink bombed Maxine's bedroom.

"Ha-ha very funny, oh and the girl you were looking at, her name is Monique and she's the newest girl in Maxine's posse. If you were wondering," he said smiling; he always knows what's on my mind.

"Well if you must know I was wondering but I didn't mean anything by it, I'm engaged," I said and Gazzy looked at me skeptically.

"Sure, let the she-witch ruin your only chance of love," he said ice dripping off his words. Gazzy hates Tess, he says she's all wrong for me, I can't say I don't agree but I have no say.

"All I'm saying is that she is the nicest person ever and man can that girl talk," he said.

"Tell me more about her," I said.

"Thought you didn't want to get involved," Gazzy said.

"I never said we couldn't be friends," Gazzy rolled his eyes.

"I guess friends with benefits count," Gazzy said and I returned by rolling my eyes back.

"Anyways back to Monique," I asked too eagerly.

"Well the only things I know are that she moved here two months ago, she's your age, her favorite color is purple, she loves to read and her favorite animal is a bird," he said.

"The only things you know?" I asked confused that he knows so much.

"I got all that from one chat with her and I didn't even say anything," he said.

"Anything else?" I asked, he stroked his chin and snapped.

"Her favorite place to read is the courtyard," he said. I grinned and hugged him tightly.

"Thanks buddy," I said and ran off.

"I want a full report, even if it's X-rated!" he yelled after me, but I was already on my way to the courtyard.
