His kitchen was a mess. The stove was spotted from pots boiling over, there were dirty dishes in the sink, carrot shavings on the counter top and as Renn sniffed the air he really hoped that was the garbage he was smelling and not the odd concoctions that Tetsu was creating. In Renn's eyes his poor, pristine kitchen had been violated and he was staring at the culprit, dressed in a frilly apron and paying no attention to the fact that his friends complexion was currently whiter than paper. It took Renn all of his strength not to scream while egg yolks dribbled onto the floor during their journey from shell to bowl.
"Are you sure you don't need any help Tetsu?" I could stir your," he paused and made a face at the bubbling green thing in his favorite pot "Uh thing?"
"Nonsense!" Tetsu's reply came complete with traditional finger waving "This is for Ei-chan and I need to do it myself."
Face twisted into a worried frown that would out do any meddling mother, Renn moved to sit at the kitchen table and pray for an end to the destruction. Ken was sitting in the chair beside him eating an apple with his feet propped up on the table and he laughed as Renn shoved them off and wiped down the spot afterwards. Didn't phase him, nothing phased Ken, he just took another noise bite of his apple and returned to his current favorite activity, watching Tetsu try his hardest not to blow up the kitchen.
"What exactly are you cooking Tetsu?" Ken asked as he wiped apple juice out of his beard "The kitchen looks like World War III hit and all you have to show for it are spots on your frilly apron. Good look for you by the way really brings out your eyes."
Tetsu made a face at the Geki user "Urusai!" he grumbled "I made rice."
Ken leaned back in his chair, the front legs lifting into the air and all his weight being supported by the back legs which made his chair creak slightly, then threw his arms up in mock amazement "Oh rice! Good job I hear that's really hard to make!"
His response was an orange chucked at his head a triumphant look on Tetsu's face as Ken rubbed his bump while wincing.
Somehow, probably between the odd green liquid boiling onto the floor and Ken knocking over a carton of eggs, Renn was able to convince Tetsu to let him help. It was more like Renn begged and pleaded until the young officer finally gave in. So between the two of them, with Ken supervising of course, they managed to create a rather nice bento box for Eiji.
No eyes were lost, no fingers cut off, and no send or third degree burns, in Renn's book that was a success considering the state of things. The only real injury was a small cut on Tetsu's thumb and from the vegetable peeler and a red mark on Ken's hand from when he tried to steal one of the octopus hot dogs that Tetsu had spent 15 mins on.
Five minutes later and Tetsu was skipping out of the room, carrying the bento and still wearing the apron. Totally preoccupied with finding Eiji the fact that he looked like a nervous school girl on her way to meet her boyfriend didn't bug him. Not even with Ken's caterwauling and teasing as he walked away.
With Tetsu out of the way that left two and Renn who was exhausted wasn't fast enough to keep Ken from leaving as he grabbed an extra rice ball. Left to himself he was now standing in the middle of the room, hands on his hips and taking in the disaster zone. Grumbling softly he went to find a mop, the kitchen wasn't going to clean itself and the dinner rush would be by soon to scavenge like a pack of wild animals.
"Some days," Renn muttered "There's just no point in getting out of bed."
