In the long line of Flashes, the newest member was on its way. Not quite sure which gender the kid was going to be increased the excitement.

With Iris-West-Allen's pregnancy, as she got into her later months, she was replaced (temporarily) as news anchor by a co-worker so she could stay home.

A few weeks into her ninth month, she went into labor.

Her husband, the current Flash, got her to the hospital in record time.

He sat outside, tapping a foot impatiently.

Several sleepless and long hours later, two cries were heard from her room. The nurse came out and informed the waiting Barry Allen that it was twins and that the mother had come through like a trooper.

He had a girl and a boy.

His sigh of relief echoed the one his wife had given.

Life's greatest adventure had begun.

Child raising.

~Wind me up~

One of the first worries Iris expressed was whether or not their children would have inherited their father's super speed.

"I don't think it's genetic," Barry said.

Boy, was he wrong.

I'm going to skip past the toil of parenthood, the staying up until 3:00 in the morning, etc. and get to the interesting part.

They had had twins, a boy and a girl, who they named James and Donna Allen. James looked like his mother, flaming red hair and green eyes, with slight features.

Donna had blonde hair, like her father, and green eyes, with more solid features.

They might have been twins, but they were different in almost every way.

One of the things they had in common was their incredible speed.

Which was genetic.

~Put me down~

The day they discovered their children had super human speed was five years after their birth.

Five years of normal parenthood.

And it ended when James started to learn to run well.

James was an adventurous child and the first one to do almost everything.

So when he made a quick sprint across the yard that should have taken at least a minute in two seconds, his parents knew that he had inherited his Dad's super human speed.

Donna showed no such skill until she was six.

Donna was much quieter than her brother, and not like either of her parents. She was the odd one out of the family.

James was everyone's favorite. He was spontaneous, and fun loving.

Donna was less popular. She was…mature for her age, even at age five. She was practical and resourceful, and….not as likeable.

The only thing they had in common was their love of speed.
