A Surprise for Camp Half Blood

Sports Day

****************************************************

This is my first fan fiction, be nice… please

Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, went my alarm, forcing me from my lovely relaxing sleep. I thumped it to shut it up, then laid back in bed trying to remember why I was so excited, then it hit me. Sports Day! Okay, I don't look like the sportiest person in the world, but having ADHD gives me loads of energy, so what better a way to burn it off, than four lengths of the school pool, followed by the 200 meters I thought as I wandered aimlessly down for breakfast. My stepdad, Alec, gave the usual morning greeting "Hurry up and stop stomping on the stairs." I'd heard often enough to not react, so I ignored him as I made some toast. "Morning Cathy" went my step sister Amy, her blue eyes shining with excitement. Amy was my weak spot, Alec and mum could me get to do anything if the asked Amy to say it, and she's sweet and kind, so unlike her father. Which is defiantly a relief I reflected as I munched on my toast, one Alec was bad enough, two and you might as well kill me now! After I'd finished my toast I dragged myself upstairs to brush my teeth and get dressed. I don't like our school uniform, it's too posh, it's a red blazer with the school logo and motto on the pocket, white shirt, maroon tie and either black trousers or navy skirts, with normal school shoes and white socks. I naturally ruin the posh look, by shortening the tie having my shirt un-tucked and wearing brightly coloured socks.

Amy knocked on my door "Hurry up we're going to be late!" "Nearly ready" I yelled back as I brushed my short, black into two bunches and grabbed my swimming kit and P.E. bag. As I rushed downstairs, I caught sight of my reflection, a heart shaped face with emerald green eyes, with my hair in bunches I looked like a sissy, I was anything but. I quickly ran to the car and flew in like a whirlwind and settled on the seat next to Amy, we have to go to school by car because it's the only way to get there, if we went to the secondary school everyone else went to we'd catch the bus, but when I was in year six, mum married Alec and we came into some money so I wasn't going where everyone else was going, we were going to a proper school, with no riff raff as mum put it.

When we finally got there the bell had already gone which was exactly what I didn't need, I was already lined up to be excluded, one more slip up and I'm out of here before you can say "it wasn't my fault". As soon as I left the car I was racing across the school playground and hoping that my form tutor hadn't started the register, however when I arrived, he'd already finished, so as I ran into the classroom, him being the head of languages, raised a disapproving eyebrow and said "tu as retard" "I know" I replied "I know". As I said this the bell went and everyone disappeared to first lesson, whilst I made my way to the swimming gala.

When my race was finally called out, I headed up to front of the pool, naturally a head smaller than my rivals. The year sevens were watching and all of the Greeks (our houses are named after different civalsations, there were the Greeks, the Romans and the Egyptians) yelled "Go Cathy" whilst the other house groaned and a few muttered "I can't watch" okay, so I'm the best in my year, not my fault. The pistol fired and I dived into the pool, easily doing four lengths and beating the hell out of my opposition and winning by a long shot. When the gala was over the winners of the races did a lap of honour and points were added to our houses score. Everyone soon left but I hung back, waiting for Amy, and thtas when things got weird.
