Its been years since Lily Evans Potter died that horrible death, but Severus Snape, the man who has loved her since the moment he seen her fiery red hair and piercing green eyes feels like she died just moments ago. His coworkers all know that he has been in love with her for years. They all say "its going to take time but you'll forget Severus, you need to get on with your life." but they don't realize.
Since she's died everyday he manages to pick up a muggle phone and dial six numbers just to hang up the phone. Driving cross town just to see if she's home. Just to end up fire-calling Dumbledore in the middle of the night. Just to hear him say "Severus its going to be alright". But Dumbledore doesn't understand that Severus doesn't fall asleep because he knows she will be there, in his dreams. That's how he knows Lily is more than a memory.
After hours of not sleeping he lights a match to every letter he's kept with her handwriting on it. He watched her words go up in smoke, tore all her pictures off his wall. He knows those aren't helping him at all.
Sometimes he talks out loud as if she was there, he hasn't slept, shaved, or eaten in days. He knows he looks like hell but he doesn't care. Empty bottles of alcohol all over the floor, feeling lower then ever. Falling on his knees begging, praying for anything that she will come back, because she's more than a memory.
