Prologue
The light sparkled off of my skin, the colors reflecting back causing it to look like I was made up of thousands of diamond. My head hurt, severely, the throbbing making it painful for me to try and remember. After hours and hours of fighting the pain, I finally managed enough mental power to open my eyes. The scene I awoke to was confusing, and so was everything around it. The girl staring at me was odd, and behind her was a scene of glass, broken furniture, and blood. As I moved to rise, so did she, stopping to stare at the same time I stopped to stare at her. Her eyes were a deep red, almost like the blood behind her had been absorbed into them. It was staring into those eyes that finally made me realize I was staring into a mirror.
I reached up to my short, black hair, brushing shards of glass and splinters of wood from it. My small, pixie-like face was splatted with small dots of blood, my white shirt and long, black skirt drenched in the sticky red liquid. My feet were bare, so I was careful about where I stepped when I finally lifted myself to my feet. I looked around, trying to find anything that sparked a memory, but my eyes kept going back to the mirror. Was that really me? I couldn't remember anything before I looked in to that mirror, but I was sure I didn't look normal. My skin wasn't supposed to glitter like that, and the arm that was away from the sunlight looked sickly and pale.
"What's my name? Where am I? What happened!" I began yelling at my reflection, desperately wishing I'd have one of those episodes of insanity that would make it answer back. Instead, the sound came in my head, along with a vision of a white haired stranger.
"Alice, are you afraid of me?" the man whispered, his voice echoing in my head.
"You're the son of a demon, and an ally of the Volturi. Of course I'm afraid of you." I replied, sounding calm and annoyed at the man. As my focus came back to the room, I lightly shook my head. More visions came upon me, and it was hard to sort them all. There was one I clung to, and decided that was the one I'd follow. There was only one problem.
"How am I supposed to find one bar, and one incredibly gorgeous cowboy when I don't even know where I am?"
