As Graypaw and Firepaw settled themselves beside the tress stump, a young she-cat crawled out from underneath the ferns. Her coat was ginger, like Firepaw's, but much paler, with barley visible stripes of darker fur.
¨So her comes the new apprentice!¨ she meowed, narrowing her eyes.
¨Hello,¨ Firepaw mewed.
The young cat sniffed rudely. ¨He smells like a kittypet! Don't tell me I'm going to have to share my nest with that revolting stench!¨
All of the sudden, Sandpaw saw everything freeze, except herself. The wind started to blow like a hurricane around her. After it stopped, she found herself in an unfamilar place; it was a stone hollow that looked like a camp. She saw that next to her was a cat that seemed an older version of her next what seemed an older version of the kittypet she had just insulted. She paused looking around to see what they were doing.
"Firestar," the older Sandpaw hissed. She walked over and stood between the older Firepaw and his Clan. "This is your last life. You can't risk losing it now. Your Clan needs you."
"They need me to fight," older Firepaw replied.
"But what will they do if you're killed?"
"They'll fight harder." Older Firepaw's green eyes glowed. "My warriors have only one life, and they are willing to give it up for their Clanmates. I'm no different. My place is beside them."
Older Sandpaw pressed her cheek against older Firepaw's. "I love you," she breathed. "I love you too," older Firepaw murmured. "Stay with Brambleclaw and guard the camp." He broke away and raced for the entrance.
What?, Sandpaw thought. I end up being his mate and he ends up being leader? This was a BIG time lapse. Sandpaw was sent back to the present right when Fireheart saved her from falling from a cliff. She was going to change her attitude from now on.
That´s the REAL reason why Sandpaw changed all of the sudden.
