Prolog: Entering Rai

I'm falling into a deep darkness, not fast, but slowly. It was too slow. Too dream-like. It was too dark, too suffocating. My whole body was numb, the air felt piercing like needles, my mind foggy. I couldn't process where I was or if I was alive. Maybe I was dead? Or am I asleep? I have to… I don't remember going to sleep. I have to sleeping…. I have to be. The last thing I remember was studying…

"….. From here on, you are my faithful guard dog." Who guard dog? Where they talking to me? Who are they?

"… Yes, young master."

Who was talking? The voice was too loud, it didn't belong to anyone I knew. My eyes hurt now.

Suddenly a bright light filled the dark large room. I think it was a room at least. The light was too bright, I threw up my arm to cover my eyes, and they already hurt enough.

"I'm coming…"

An evil smile then….

"DAMN!" The chair I was sitting on felled backwards, the back of my head came into contact with the, dusty, old, wooden floorboards making a loud dub. Groaning I lifted myself up shaking my head. It's sad I was used to hurting my head out of all things. Looking around, I saw I was still in my room, the creak in the window glowing a light blue. Outside the sky was grey. It almost always seemed to be grey nowadays. The England rain pounding against the window. I wonder when it will break. Hopefully when I'm long gone. Glancing at the clock in the dark room, it was 4 o'clock in the morning. I smelled the familiar scent of a burned candle, and sure enough on the desk, a candle had stop burning and now dancing smoke replaced the beautiful flame.

Walking to the desk, my alchemy book was open. No, before you start alchemy is not witchcraft! It's umm well umm like magic but it's…. IT'S JUST NOT OKAY! Anyways I closed it with hesitation, my eyes focusing on the old pages filled with words of wisdom and moved onto fixing the rest of my desk, placing the hard-earn textbooks in one pile the notes back into its binding on another side of the desk. With a frown, I notice a sealed envelope on the desk, right where my textbook was. I sighed already knowing what it was before I even turned it over.

Claude was the only thing written on it.

Sighing I threw the letter away slowly wondering why I spent my time writing to a dead person. I could be doing better things with my time than reminiscing about the past. That's the only thing it is anyways.

"Rae! Rae! GET DOWN HERE"

I hate to admit it, but I wince at the person's tone knowing the horror awaiting but I went anyways.
