June Weasley brushed her hair a few times before turning this way and that to examine her reflection. She started on the job of straightening her tie when she was saved from the task by a pair of strong hands. They grabbed her by the shoulders, more capable of being gentle than one might have expected. Puck Parkinson turned her to face him and fixed her tie with a moment's work.
"I don't know why you always try to look as if you haven't been thoroughly snogged." That damnable smirk of his said more than words ever could. "Even if you go back up to the tower completely spotless, it's still all over your face. I bet those friends of yours have some idea of what you've been doing, even if they couldn't guess who you've been doing it with."
Puck straightened her collar. June took a moment to smooth imaginary wrinkles from his shirt, delicate hands splayed across crisp fabric that covered nicely toned muscles. She did up a couple of his buttons for him.
"It must not be so obvious to everyone. I guess it's lucky for you that Harry can be a bit oblivious about these things. He hardly needs a reason as it is to fly off the handle when he sees you and Draco in the hall. He's like my brother, Puck. If he had any idea what we've been up to, you'd know."
Puck's arms slid around June's middle. She spared a glance at his reflection, noticing that he looked maddeningly cool and collected despite what they'd been doing for the last few minutes. She also couldn't help thinking, just for an instant, that they looked good together. She didn't think Puck would take kindly to the thought of making any sort of real commitment to her, so she kept her thoughts to herself.
Despite his musings on her efforts to tidy herself up a bit, June was fairly certain that it would be the last thing he wanted if she were to go back to Gryffindor tower and exclaim to her friends and other fellow housemates, "I've been off with Puck Parkinson. What do you think of that?"
Puck's lips were close to June's ear, "I don't know... Being able to rile Potter up because he's jealous over you, that sounds a bit entertaining."
His smirk fell back into place. June wondered if it was something he'd learned from Draco or if they took all the Slytherin boys aside during first year for a very special lesson.
June took a swat at his shoulder, "You obviously don't have sisters. Guys get weird about the girls they consider family, he'd want to hex you within an inch of your life and not because of jealousy."
She was surprised to feel a kiss brush across her cheek. "He'd come around, I'm not all bad."
June arched a brow. "What about Draco? What would he think of you and I?"
Puck shrugged. "We could distract them with each other and sneak off together. They'd probably be rolling around on the floor with bloody noses, wands forgotten, before they even noticed we were gone."
June leaned in to kiss him. It was not the kiss of someone who intended to return to prefect duty and then go up to bed.
Puck pulled back, forehead resting against June's own. "Much longer and we'll be missed."
"We'll come up with something to report. Rogue Hufflepuff in the dungeons, Nifflers loose in the entrance hall... Something."
"Or we could tell them the truth." Puck suggested. "We found a couple snogging that needed taking care of, it took longer than we expected..."
As Puck's mouth lowered to cover her own, June quickly forgot to worry about Harry or anyone else.
