Almost Simone

Chapter 1

It was around nine in the evening Sunday in a rainy Los Angeles. The weekend was almost over, but Simon Seville did not care about that as he climbed up a tree in the arboreal park. This was a good time to go out, since the paparazzi was at parties. He savoured the sound of the cicadas and crickets harmonizing, with the songbirds singing their farewells to the setting sun. The sunset was quite aesthetically pleasing that night.

The solitude can calm one's nerves. Simon thought to himself, I hope that nothing crazy is occurring at home. That seems unlikely, though.

The serene scene became more prevalent before he climbed onto the lower branches of the blooming catalpa tree, watching for any predators.
