Isobel Flemming.
You're a bitch. Nothing more, nothing less.
You aren't sure whether or not you should be satisfied or upset at the looks of disgust the people from your past throw your way when you blow into town. You loved Alaric at one point in your life, and Elena is your own daughter. But you chose this lifestyle for yourself, so there's no use regretting it now.
Okay, sure. You're a bitch. So what? It keeps you on top of the game and able to stay alive, because no one can get to you through you you to your loved ones, as everyone hates you and you seem to hate them too. Either way, you don't get that guilty feeling in the pit of your stomach any more. You always hated that. The fact that someone could tug at your heartstrings and get you to do something that you wouldn't if you didn't feel emotion.
It's really not all that bad – you can compel anyone you want, as long as they aren't wearing vervain. You'll live for a really long time, so you'll be able to do all of that traveling you'd always dreamed of. No more worrying about expenses and such. No need to put on a false face to fool your 'friends' into thinking that you actually like them. It's a good life, right?
There's that nagging feeling, though. The one that has started creeping up on you ever since your visit with Elena. You had been able to see it, in her eyes – she was good, and she was never going to turn out like you because of that. But you were also able to see the disappointment in her eyes, and you hate to admit it, but it had actually stung a little. There wasn't any way to prevent that; she was your daughter and that motherly instinct and clung on your personality like a leech.
It's too late now, though. They've gotten their first impressions (all except for Alaric, of course, but you took care of that problem with a little compulsion) and they would never be able to see you any other way. You are, in their minds, a bitch. So there really no use in changing.
Maybe that nagging feeling will just go away if you go out for a little late night bite...
