Plans

The Host Club decides taking a day off from work would be most beneficial. It is Friday night and rarely do they have an evening to spend together. They agree to meet at a commoner's restaurant at six o'clock. Hikaru and Kaoru pointed it out when they closed their eyes and pointed to a random name on a list of restaurants serving dishes less than forty.

At six o' clock, Haruhi arrives and takes her seat. She notices that the boys aren't here so she calls for a table for six. They sit her down at a table and she glances at the menu. Doing that, she also shifts through her wallet and decides her credit card will have to do.

Tamaki arrives five minutes late and apologizes frantically to the extent Haruhi verbally murders him.

"Daughter, darling, which one of these commoners' food tastes the best?"

"Everything here tastes good," she says coolly. "Fish, steak, or salad?"

"Oh, is it real fish? None of that...what's it called? canned tuna? And the steak...not ninety-five percent fat-filled? And the salad...are the leaves any darker than bamboo? They're not from a bag?"

"I don't know why I have to put up with this," she mutters.

"Oh no, I made my Haruhi terribly angry," Tamaki winces. "It's alright, dear. Daddy can help choose for you." His hand reaches for hers, but the waiter interrupts.

"What would you like?"

"Oh! They have waiters here! Hallelujah!" Tamaki gasps joyfully. Haruhi cringes the slightest bit and requests for salmon. "Oh, let's see here, there's so many of them...how about all of them?"

"What."

"All of them! Everything on this menu!" Tamaki grinned. "Hurry, hurry, don't keep my daughter waiting." The waiter, gathering the menus, walks off in a huff. "Now, Haruhi, before you begin to start..."

"Where are the others?" her gaze jumps windows. She checks her watch. "It's been almost half an hour. My, how time flies when you're here." Haruhi looks at Tamaki only for a few seconds to realize that the others will never come. "Tamaki, this is unreasonable. We have finals next week. I thought this was—"

"Yeah, but..." Tamaki mumbles with vulnerability that almost touches her heart. She never understood how he can do that to her, even now.

"You're behind in studying too."

"No, I'm not," he whined.

"You said so yesterday?"

"But Haruhi... we have finals next week, and then plans the week after. And then we have summer, and then we have family events. And after that, responsibilities, more future stuff, more studying, more tests, more work." He gasps. "Do I make sense here? I don't feel like thinking about that right now." He is about to sulk in the corner but Haruhi slowly nods.

"You rarely do," she sighs but with a smile, the smile that captured his heart. She doesn't understand him too much now but she does understand him more now than before. "Fine," she says. "Whatever you want. You win this time."
