Chapter 1

It was that time of the year. When shopping centers play songs you heard 10 Christmases ago and fake Santa's ask little children what they want. Abbey grimaced at the thought. She didn't enjoy it very much. No not at all. It was the week before the holiday and Gibbs had promised, rather nicely to give them Christmas week off if they finished the case. Ducky's eyes had lit up like a Childs. Ziva had tried not to look excited but if you looked you saw the excited small smile that quickly disappeared. Tony had broken in a huge smile and Kate looked happy. Gibbs didn't look too happy. But he didn't have a wife or children to visit. She had tried to smile but quickly slipped out tears threatening to fall. It hadn't gone unnoticed by the others. Some tried to visit the lab only to find her gone. Not even a note or a call.

Abbey POV

Christmas. A time where happy children visit there grandmothers or have huge family feast with roast chicken or ham. Not anymore. Now every Christmas she visited her brother's grave. She always left a white rose. She sang to him. The same song as the always. The same song that she would if he was scared or couldn't sleep. She let her tears fall.

Her brother had piercing blue eyes with black messy hair and a pretty smile. When he was a child sometimes he would cry in his sleep. She would stand at his door way and sing softly till his tears became soft sobs and he calmly rested.

Now he was dead. She remembered the silver car that ran him down. He hadn't even noticed the sleek car. He was picking up a girls back pack. She had dropped it crossing the road. He saw her bag and had looked across the road. But just as he grabbed it came from no where. He hadn't time to move out of the way. She watched his blood splatter on the glass window of the car. She screamed. She cried. And she would do that again.

The paramedics couldn't save him. He was declared dead before they even reached the hospital. She let a tear slip.

"Abbey" she heard someone call. Looking up she saw Kate. She glared.

"Hey, you okay?" Kate asked.

"Yeah" she lied "Listen, tell Gibbs I'm going home"

Kate looked concerned but didn't stop her from leaving.
