Abbie was in the delivery room giving birth to their child. I started thinking back to the day we met, when I stepped over the crates and boxes into my new assistant's room. I didn't want a new assistant, I had finally gotten used to Jamie, now I had to get used to another assistant all over again, who no doubt would be gone within another two years anyway. She turned to face me, and took my breath away. The most beautiful brown eyes danced as she said, "Hello." And later that year, Abbie was stuck in New York, sick at Christmas, and I had taken some soup and conversation to her. Just to see her beaming smile, I'd do anything in the world.

Then Ricci died and Abbie almost decided to move back to Texas. I discovered I loved her. Not like most of the other ADAs I'd been with, but like I loved Claire, only different. I had protected my heart from everyone including my daughters, but Abbie had broken down the wall just with her simple smile and her dark chocolate eyes.
