A/N: I think this is the goodbye we all wanted (or at least I wanted).
"If you see our son again," Leia whispered into Han's chest, "bring him home."
Han said nothing but rubbed her back in comfort, not knowing if that was even possible. Ben had left so many years ago. How had he fallen so far from the playful, joyous child they had known? Of course Han would do everything in his power to get Ben to come home, but what if it wasn't enough? He had a bad feeling about this mission. He felt like a really big pile of shit was about to hit the fan and he didn't know how to stop it.
Leia was the first to move and lessened her grip on Han. There arms returned to their sides but they didn't move their bodies away.
"So I guess this is goodbye," Leia said simply, putting on that brave façade Han admired so much.
He smiled sadly. "For now." He started to walk towards the Falcon. He got nearly ten feet away when he turned back.
She was standing there, upright and stone-faced, like nothing affected her. But her eyes were full of emotion. He could see confusion, worry, pain, and still a sense of love. He stared at her for a moment before rushing back to her.
His hands came to her face and he kissed her deeply, trying to apologize for the last fifteen years, for being a shitty husband. He felt her arms wrap around his back again and he let one of his hands descend to her waist while the other cradled her head. She kissed him back with equal passion, neither of them caring they were standing in the middle of a Resistance base.
In that moment, all Han wanted to do was take Leia back to the Falcon, push her against a bulkhead and kiss her until he couldn't feel his lips, touch her until his fingers went numb, make love to her until he collapsed of exhaustion. He wanted her to forget all the pain she had known and make everything better.
Leia came to her senses first and pulled away. Han kept his hands where they were even as Leia put hers on his chest.
"Han, you have to go," she reminded him, slightly breathless.
He just stared at her, rememorizing her face. He gently brushed her cheek. "I still love you."
She placed her hand over his. "I know."
He pecked her lips one last time before turning and heading onto the Falcon. Once in the cockpit, he continued to look at Leia through the window.
Finn shook his shoulder. "Hey, you awake?"
"Yeah. I'm fine," he answered gruffly. Just got a strange feeling. Like I'm never gonna see her again.
