One thing she would never understood was why he had done it.
He had (stupidly-as she put it) thrown himself in danger for her. Her of all people! After the way she had treated him!
Now she really couldn't forgive herself.
She had always thought of him as an inferior, somebody not worth the time to notice. Though he always managed to get it, then she would get angry and strike against him.
Injuring him physically and mentally.
But he was a nobody! She had been taught that they were not human! A demon with a person's body!
Now she wondered...
Why had he done it? He was emotionless. He had no heart...
But... Maybe there was a heart there. Somewhere, deep inside.
Maybe what they had told her was wrong. Maybe, in that shell there was still some emotion...
Which emotion was he feeling?
Compassion? Loyalty? Concern? Protectiveness? Love?
All of those were absurd! Especially the last one! After the way she had treated him! But that was part of the reason she pushed him away...
