When Natsu opened his eyes, he was alone.
He was lying on a cold, rocky floor, with his wrists tied up in shackles attached to the wall.
He tried to move, but it had no effect. He slowly sat up, examining his surroundings. Although, it was difficult, even with his enhanced Dragon Slayer senses. The room Natsu Dragneel was in was pitch black. He couldn't see anything at all. All he knew was that the air was very thick and moist, and very hard to breathe in. He was also aware of the fact that the room he was in smelled foul.
He let out a sharp cry as a sudden surge of immense pain knocked him down to the ground, his head smacking on the floor. He had a killer headache, and the pain was absolutely unbearable. He tried to think, to think about what events lead to him being stuck in a room, tied up, when he felt a warm liquid trickle down his arm to his hand. He winced in pain, noticing for the first time that he had a large, deep cut on the top of his left arm, that stretched from his collar bone to the extent of his shoulder.
He focused on the matter at hand and attempted to ignore the agonizing pain and break free from the handcuffs that connected him to the wall. He tried to light a flame in the palm of his hand, but it didn't work. He groaned, understanding the situation he was in. His captor had put magic sealing cuffs on him, completely prohibiting his ability to use any type of magic.
The handcuffs were tight, too tight. He could feel them cut off the circulation in his fingers, making his hands feel numb. The pain in his head and in his shoulder was increasing by the second. He was scared, no, terrified, of what was going to happen to him. It was getting harder to breathe, and his vision blurred, until he lost all consciousness.
When he woke up, there was a figure looking over him, smirking at the sight of the pathetic boy crumpled on the ground in front of him. Natsu had never felt more alone ever in his life than he had in that particular moment, although there was someone standing in front of him.
He wanted Happy, Lucy, Erza, Wendy, even Gajeel or Gray, anyone with him, but the wishful thinking didn't help. He was just hoping someone was looking for him. He didn't see any way out of the present situation. His head was throbbing, and it was so loud he couldn't hear his own thoughts. All the sound was drowned out, the only available noise was the rhythm of the pain inducing pounding. The man in front of him removed his shackles, but he had no energy left to move. He choked back a sob as the ominous figure in front of him grabbed a handful of his pink hair, and threw him across the room, slamming him into the cold rock wall.
Two more people entered the room. Natsu couldn't see them, as the room was dark, but he could definitely sense their presence. He could tell they were wizards, powerful ones at that. He heard one of them laugh at him, which enraged Natsu. He was on the brink of tears, but needed to be strong. He wanted to know why they kept him here. Why they were doing this to him! He was scared, alone, confused, trapped, and surrounded by strange people whose only intentions were to harm him. He was trapped in his thoughts, lying on the ground completely immobilized, as one of the men, the one on the right, walked up to him, a knife in their hand. He could smell blood on the blade- his blood- and realized that that must have been the knife they had used to cut his shoulder.
The man bent down next to Natsu, grabbed the knife, and put it right by his face. Natsu laid there, petrified with fear, and closed his eyes shut tight as he prepared for the person in front of him to strike. The man slowly cut Natsu's right cheek, causing the fire wizard to wince. He walked away and handed the knife to the one on the left.
Natsu summoned what little strength he had left and moved his hand to touch his face. Luckily, the person hadn't applied much pressure, and didn't cut very deep, but it was still bleeding. He chuckled quietly, surprised he found something amusing in his shoes, wondering what he had done to end up so drained. Probably something reckless. That's always what it was. Maybe that would be the end of him.
He heard loud footsteps, as the next man, the one who was standing on the left, walked up for his 'turn.'. He, too, kneeled down next to Natsu, but this one said something.
"I want to hear your screams." The man seemed sinister, and he sensed murderous intent from this guy. This one was on a whole new level from the last. The person traced their knife around his right arm, not using enough force to break through his skin. When he reached his wrist, he created two long, deep, slashes to form an 'X', causing the fire wizard to scream in agony.
The man snorted, obviously enjoying Natsu's reaction to the pain. He was losing blood at an alarming rate.
Well, I guess this is the end for me…
The three amigos left the room, leaving Natsu there to die. He laid there for hours, counting the seconds down until he died, suffering, getting dizzier by the second. He couldn't do anything. He didn't have fatal injuries, but he was going to die. He could barely see straight, as his world crumbled around him. He knew that if he fell asleep, he would never wake up again. Right before he closed his eyes for good, he sensed someone walk into the room. This was a different person.
"Oh my God?! Are you okay?!" He heard a girl scream, although, he couldn't tell if it was a girl or a boy. He was exhausted, and he just wanted to sleep.
He heard the sound of a fire being ignited and saw that it was, in fact, a young girl, probably just a few years younger than him. She was carrying a lantern in one hand, and bandages and something that Natsu didn't recognize in the other. She rushed to his side, set down the lantern and got to work patching him up. She looked about 15, maybe older, and had long chestnut brown hair and big brown eyes. "I'm Andrea. I'm truly so sorry for what they did to you. I honestly feel bad about helping you, because they want you to heal so that they can hurt you again. But then again, I would feel bad if I didn't help you, cause I don't want you to die! I don't feel like you deserve any of this. I wish I could do more for you, but they'll kill me if I even try to let you go.". She had a concerned look on her face as she kept jabbering. She was quite the multitasker. She stood up and walked to the other side of the room and grabbed something off the floor.
Natsu regained a little bit of his strength and sat up, as the girl walked up to him, holding the chains that held him down before. "I'm really so sorry!". The girl said, a single tear going down her face. "I honestly don't want them to hurt you, but if you escape on my watch, they'll do the same to me, but they'll let me die. I'll answer any questions you have, but I have to put these on you."
Natsu understood the girl. He nodded, and held out his arms to allow the girl to tie him up again. She put them on gently, being careful not to disturb the injuries on his wrist, and made them a little looser than before. Not enough to escape, no, but not so tight that he lost all the feeling in his hands. He was sitting in a pool of his blood, and the metallic stench made him gag. She took a white towel and began to soak up the blood underneath him, staining the towel a deep crimson. Natsu looked at the girl in front of him, and vowed that whenever he escaped from this nightmare, he would bring the girl with him, away from the horrible people that resided here.
She had finished with the towel and threw it to the side. She shifted her position so that she could communicate with the man in front of her and look him in the eye as they talked. She already knew she could trust him, as if he wasn't to trust, he would have attacked her or tried to escape instead of willingly letting her handcuff him.
Natsu let out a sigh, and looked at the girl. "What do they want with me? Why are they doing this?" He asked.
The girl shook her head. "They're disgusting people. I don't know why, but they say they need revenge on you for something. They wouldn't say anything else. I'm sorry…" She looked down at her hands, resting on her lap.
"... It's okay. Don't beat yourself up about it. It's not your fault." He could see the room clearly now. It was just a small room, very small, in fact, that resembled a cave, with rock walls, and a cold stone floor. It looked old, and the ceiling appeared to be worn out and could collapse at any moment. "A-Are any of my friends here?" He wondered out loud, wanting Andrea to confirm that his friends were, in fact, in the safety of their homes or the guild hall. She simply shook her hair 'no', and Natsu let out a sigh of relief. He started to shiver- the room was freezing- when all of a sudden the girl jumped up and exited the room. She took the lantern with her, leaving Natsu alone in the darkness for a few minutes. He was exhausted, and drifted off into sleep.
Andrea came back into the room, holding a flannel blanket. She noticed him sleeping, and crept over to him. She placed the blanket gently over the boy, and exited the room, shutting the door and all hopes of escaping before the night was over behind her.
A/N Sorry if that was really bad, I tried!
