The King of the Shinigami's notebook is different then all other death note as in their are rules that only apply to that note.
Rules that Light probably need to know.

1. The user of this Death note will gain the lifespan of those he kills like a death god dose.
2. When one give up this note as well as his memories he can never remember those memories or use any other death note not even this one.
3. The effect of touching a death note and seeing that Shinigami the owns it will remain but one is unable to write in it.
Yeah things he wished he knew.
So can L die if Kira is gone for good. At lest from Light that is.
And how many years did Light add to his life.
