A/N: Random Clintasha one-shot that came from nowhere and isn't very good. Oh, well.
Hawkeye watched from the rafters of the theater in Moscow. The show went on as it was supposed to, the crowd's gaze fixed on the stage, his eyes roving over the crowd, with only occasional glances and momentary viewings of the talented dancers on the stage. A new woman dressed in a white tutu, stockings, and a matching tiara took the stage, and now his gaze was firmly fixed on her.
The ballerina was in the middle of the stage, her flawless, fluid form demanding the attention of everyone in the lavish building. Even the archer could not take his eyes off her, and he knew she'd have snapped him back to his job had she been next to him. He was supposed to be watching for their target, some Russian arms dealer, the name of whom was lost in his swirling thoughts.
Instead, he watched the white-clad woman twirling in the center of the stage. He vaguely thought she looked like a swan, with her arms outstretched and ready to take flight, and her pristine white outfit as white as the wings of the bird whom - if he wasn't mistaken - she was supposed to symbolize. A swan, in all her glory, capturing the attention of the audience.
Her red hair, however, greatly contrasted with the pure white of her outift. Her red hair, which was pulled back into a bun, more accurately symbolized who she was: an assassin with a record. She was his partner, and she was doing her job so well that he wasn't doing his. Well, on the bright side, if he was so transfixed by her, then their target would be as well.
Right?
And sure enough, as she fell to the stage dramatically and finished her dance, the crowd rose to its feet and applauded. Clint refrained from doing so, and it wasn't hard, because he saw their target. Their target, who, despite what the overheard plan had said, stayed till the number was finished. Their target who unknowingly doomed himself. Clint tossed a tracker and it attached itself to the target's back, thus enabling SHIELD to track him to his weapons deal later tonight and take him down.
The curtain pulled back to reveal the whole cast, including the Black Widow, standing in the middle of the stage and recieving the applause. The Black Widow, who, dressed in that outfit, was a beautiful bird with bloodstained wings.
