Without Someone Else (Its Harder to Bare the Pain)

They were lost again. In a cargo room on a random ship, large window above the room from where they were lying on the ground behind the cover of many wooden crates showing a black sky with thousands of twinkling white stars above them. Their eyes watched the above, focusing on the contrasting infinity.
Arthur's head rolled to press his cheek against Ford's shoulder. Eyes never leaving the endless span above him, he whimpered quietly into the thick fabric of his best friend's jacket. He lost his home and his family and all his friends but one. He still had Ford. He was assured of this fact when a hand snaked into his hair, fingers burying in the locks and massaging the back of his head.
He could hear Ford mumbling senseless little things but he could not understand them. It was comforting somehow, though. Just knowing that the only person he had left in the entire universe, cared just as much as he did. He figured that maybe if he did not shut Ford out and leave himself open to whatever he said. He needed to rely on him. Without him he could not make it on his own.
