Watson sat in Evangeline's room by her desk. She said she would be there just as she was finished with something in the family room. He was confused but he didn't ask, for now anyway. He sat there thinking of the days past events. It was valentine's day. A well-known occasion, everyone had been in a good mood, it was the occasion, a day of love and happiness.
Anthony had given chocolates anonymously to angelica, he wouldn't admit he was still in love but he was. He had given Evangeline, a bouquet of roses. It was pretty cliché but he though he presented it well and from her reaction, it was obviously well received. They decided after school to go to Evangeline's house and hang out.
He sat there thinking, he heard a rustle of papers and noticed the paper that was sitting on her desk, usually he would leave it, but not this time. He picked up the paper, it was an acrostic poem. They were good for romance or just explaining thoughts but poetry wasn't his style. It read:
To Evangeline
Every time I see your face like a beaming ray of sunshine, I'm
Vexed with how much I love you but cannot say.
A many time I lost my courage to say,
Nothing is as beautiful as you.
Goodness rules our hearts.
Even if I must wait any,
Length of time, I will keep you in my heart or as the friend,
I cherish.
Never have you shown love towards me but,
Every day, ill hope that you will return those emotions that I think of you with.
-Love, Emrys
It ended there, Evangeline walked in as he finished. "What's this? " He asked. She looked at it for a second before replying "that? I ran into a guy and he dropped it, I think he mistook me for someone. It doesn't mean much to me but I think it will to whoever it's supposed to be given to."
"Well, I'm glad it's not another case, I was able to tell it was a man's hand writing. "
"How did you do that?"
"Deduction. "
"Why did you pick up the paper?"
"Curiosity. It interested me for some reason."
"What if it was my diary?"
"then I'm glad that isn't the case, being that paper would've been a part of it. "
He put the page back on the desk. They continued to playfully argue as they went into the other room, Evangeline had a gift for him apparently. He couldn't get rid of the name Emrys from his mind though it was so familiar.
Emrys.
"I hope you'll keep your promise and return to me safely… Emrys. " a woman said.
Almost as if in reply a man spoke. "Evangeline. I now have all the courage I need. I will keep my promise, I told you of my feelings and I can only hope they are one day returned. "
Emrys walked and opened a large set of double doors. He remembered a song a friend of his showed him, it was called "like a bird". He started singing it.
"Like a bird, in the sky. You set me free, you give me one heart. Like a star in my night, you'll always be a part of me."
