Paradigm Shift

Sheldon laid his head down, and while thinking about the topic of discussion he'd had with Penny, Amy and Leonard on their, so-called "double date", fell asleep.

Several Years Ago

The group settled around the table, and with a smile, Leonard started. "So when do you think someone's going to move into the apartment?"

"Last I heard, the Manager was talking about someone smart." Sheldon muttered as he picked his food with his fingers. "Then he was on about tic tacs I think."

A knock is heard, and Leonard answers the door to find a hot blonde, "Hi, I'm Penny... I just moved in."

"OH Hey... we, uh... were just wondering when someone was moving in. Odd coincidence, it's like you're psychic or something."

Penny rolled her eyes, "Well, before quantum mechanics, there was this theory that if you observed every particle in the universe at once, and had infinite processing power, you could with some accuracy predict events before they happened, but then quantum mechanics proved that you can only know the momentum or the position of the particle, and knowing more of one makes the other less precise..." She stopped, seeing the non-understanding blank gaze of a tall guy who looked like a preying mantis, the nerdy-looking guy who had answered the door, someone who, despite it being bad to stereotype, looked jewish based on the hair, and an Asia-indian guy.

After a moment, leonard asked, "say, you want to join us for dinner? We're eating thai..."

He shot up from the horror. HE took a second to realise... "It was just a dream. I'm not dumb, I'm Doctor Sheldon Cooper, B.S., M.S., M.A., Ph.D. Sc.D., and I work at Caltech... Not Penny."
