Mine

He had noticed the moment she was introduced.

A Number XIV. In Organization XIII.

Roxas was always a curious person. He questioned everyone and everything around him and how they worked (although he didn't usually get the answer he was looking for). It was just his nature. So naturally, he asked about the disregarded number in their group name.

"Organization XIII is quite a fine name already."

"…Why don't we just change the name to XIV?" the boy suggested, "We're leaving out Xion…"

"There is no need to change our name." Xemnas, the Superior, told him.

"But…"

"If you truly need the reassurance, Number XIV is a valued member in our ranks. A Keyblade Wielder, like yourself. We will not be disposing of her anytime soon, Number XIII." He said coolly.

Roxas hesitantly stared down at the white stage below him before speaking, "Alright…"

He exited the Throne Room.

The blonde stepped out of the black portal, taking in the scene of the eternally enchanted sunset.

Sitting himself down on his usual spot at the edge of the tower, he curled up into a ball like he did whenever he had to think or was upset (usually a combination of the two, as if Nobodies could even get upset).

It wasn't only that his best friend didn't have her number in the Organization's name-she had no throne, no special title, no place in the Proof of Existence…she didn't even have her own signature weapon like the other members (and neither did he, but that's beside the point).

"Roxas?"

The said boy looked up to see none other than Number XIV herself.

"What's wrong?" she asked as she took a seat to his left, "I heard you talked to the Superior about something."

"Yeah," he replied, "It was about you."

Xion looked surprised, "Me? What about me?"

There was a brief silence while Roxas pondered a response.

"Don't you…ever feel bad that we're called Organization XIII?"

She blinked, waiting for her friend to continue.

"I mean…it's like they're excluding you! You barely have a place in our castle…you don't even have a title-you're not even in our name!"

The blue-eyed girl turned to face the sunset before grinning. "I don't mind. It's fine not having too much attention."

Roxas stared at her in disbelief, "But…no one wants to change the name for you! Everyone's ignoring you!"

"Really, it's fine."

"It's not! It's like everyone's acting like you don't exist!"

She sighed, "Roxas, we're Nobodies. We don't really exist in the first place."

"Xion…" he sighed as well, "What I mean is…don't you want something to call your own?"

"I do have things to call 'mine'."

Roxas raised an eyebrow, "What, then?"

"I have a number, a name. My own room. I have my own thoughts and skills, and…memories," Xion told him, "But do you know what I have that really matters to me?"

Her response was a simple look of curiosity.

"I have you and Axel. My Number VIII and Number XIII," she smiled at him, "You're both MY best friends. And that's more than enough for me."

And finally, Roxas smiled back.
