The Future
Summary: Sometimes it's good to have a distraction.

Disclaimer: I do not own Twilight.
Maybe it had been my imagination playing tricks with the idea or possibly a simple mirage from the lack of blood. Or quite possibly, it was real and I'd simply gone into shock.
Whatever the case, as my eyes took in what my mind didn't wish to believe, my mouth fell open to ask the obvious question.
"What the hell is that?" I gestured towards the red silk dress that barely covered my daughter's body. She frowned, looked down at the material then back to my eyes before laughing.
"A dress Daddy. What else would it be?"
As I went to explain it would be something she wouldn't be wearing so long as I walked the Earth, my wife cut me off with a sharp pinch on my hip.
The woman never seemed to forget my weak points. Even without the newborn power, she could still muster enough to keep me from killing our…would be son-in-law. Just the reminder unsettled me. Bella brushed her lips against mine as our daughter headed out to meet Jacob. Though I wasn't at all thrilled about seeing my daughter with men, at least she was protected from any threats our world had yet to bestow on us. Bella and Alice kept tabs on our friends, while I and Jasper picked up on thoughts and feelings directed at Renesmee. Emmett and Rosalie watched over their niece. For the most part, everyone accepted her, willingly or not. None had any thoughts on harming her which kept our minds at ease, for now.
When we were finally alone once again in our cabin, Bella nudged me in the direction of our bedroom. "We have to break in our new bed," She teased, rubbing herself against me.
Funny how I never thought for a bed until I married.
