She sits in front of the boy with dark bangs and wounded eyes. He's the one with golden eyes on some days and pitch black on others. Today is dreary like most days. Rain slips from the sky like someone accidentally spilled their glass. Bella is a first grader and she's quite proud of herself for tying her own shoes and dressing herself without any help from her parents.
Edward Cullen is a strange boy. He sits at recess with the same four friends, two his siblings as he broodingly stares off into space. She doesn't think this is any fun. One day, she decides, I'll ask him to play with me and then he won't be so sad.
Years go by and the small girl grows into a beautiful swan. She has long brown hair and exquisite eyes that tell of her intelligence. School hasn't changed much. Still a group that she sits with, laughing at some silly joke her friend has made to impress her. But her eyes still wander as she seeks out the one boy who refused to impress her.
A week passes by. It's prom night soon.
She has been asked more than a handful of times and twice as many threats if she accepts one. They leave her numb. While she may have many friends, she feels just as alone and somber as the elusive Cullen boy.
So she takes a step back from the gymnasium filled with 'her friends' and races off to the only place she feels safe. The meadow.
"Took you long enough." Edward chides her as she sits down beside him in silk. She can hear him suck in a breath at the sight of her bare shoulders and smirks.
"Took you long enough to accept my request." She teases.
