She rolled around on the beach's soft sand. She sighed and looked at the sky.

"Another day, and no sign of him. No sign of either of them." She sighed. The island seemed so much less lively or fun without Sora and Riku's constant competition.

'It's been almost half a year.' She thought to herself. As much of a depressing thought as it was, no matter how much both of them wanted to be together, he had... more important things to deal with.

Depression wasn't a part of her. Well, she didn't want it to be at least. But the past months haven't been pleasant for her. Though she would never admit it, she depended on Sora more then she felt she should.

After all, without him, she'd still be a empty shell.

Cold, hollow, and empty.

She shuddered at the mere memory of it. She didn't remember much about it, all she remembered was when she woke up and saw that Sora had disappeared.

She was scared. She was feeling so many emotions when that happened. The domiant ones however, were grief and anger.

She knew he was gone and that she wasn't imagining things. She was struck with grief because she thought she would never see him again.

And anger for the exact same reason. He promised her that he wouldn't change. Which, in her mind, meant that he would never leave.

He was only human after all, she knew he was going to leave sometime.

She just didn't expect it to be so soon.

The feelings of grief and anger turned to happiness after she saved him.

"Sora!" She shouted in surprise. She had examined him for a minute to make sure he was really there. Despite her surprised shout, she was really happy. Happy that he was alive. The relief, however, didn't last long.

Then, soon after the events of Hollow Bastion, we come to the main issue.

"Kairi, remember what you said before? I'm always with you too, i'll come back to you, I promise!" He said to her as there were floating apart. Promise was a bittersweet word for her now. He promised he would never change, and now he was promising her he would return. Two promises he wasn't sure he could deliver. But, he smiled when they drifted away. He wanted to make sure the last she saw of him for who knows how long, was a smile. A sweet smile in a attempt to cheer her up.

His smile when they were drifting apart was so sincere, so caring and affectionate.

She stopped thinking back to these memories and stood up. Though, the wait was difficult for her, she was gonna be strong for all the sacrifices he made for her. Though she never admitted it, she was grateful for all he did for her.

Her tears had stopped and she smiled while looking at the sky. "You're gonna come back one day, I just know it. You promise you'd come back to me. Besides, you promised you would." She blushed and smiled. When he did finally come home, the first thing she planned on doing was thanking him.
