Blue Tinted
Disclaimer: I own no one. Fear me :P
Author's Note: Okay, I know I did say Rose Tinted would be first in the Tinted Series, but I can't write that until I've finished Blue Star. So here's a quick little drabbly about Sonic instead. Hope you like.
Sunshine glinted off the ripples in the water, and Sonic the Hedgehog lay back in his deckchair on the sand, content with watching the dancing light. He reached up and flicked his hand in the air, drawing an invisible line through the sky, then put his hands behind his head again.
He was perfectly happy with being able to relax, with the sun warming his fur and the sound of the ocean waves calming him. But anyone who knew him knew that he wouldn't remain laying in one spot for too long. Rolling over on the chair, he turned his attention out to the island just off the coast. The Angel Island had landed a few days ago, but far enough out to sea to let everyone know that the guardian wasn't to be disturbed. Probably drawing up something he needed from the ocean somewhere. Sonic shrugged. Whatever Knuckles was doing was his business, not Sonic's.
The cobalt hedgehog stood up and stretched, pulling his sunglasses off as he walked back up the coastline. He rubbed his eyes and shook sand that had been blown into his quills away, and then set off at a slow jog into the nearby, recently rebuilt city of Station Square. The shadows cast by the tall buildings were cool in comparison to the temperature of the air on the coastline, and Sonic slowed down slightly to feel the change. Then he caught sight of one of his friends; his self-proclaimed 'girlfriend', Amy Rose; so he turned tail and jumped to the top of a building. He gave a relieved sigh as she walked past on the street below, apparently not noticing him there at all. He walked across the rooftops of the city, and looked past them at the wide expanse of fields and forests. He made his way to the edge of the city, and looked out. Forests, fields, distant mountains and rivers, and sweet sunshine greeted his emerald eyes.
Sonic cast one more glance over the city that had been almost entirely destroyed by the water beast known as Chaos just over a year ago, and grinned. The humans had done well rebuilding the place. But cities weren't Sonic's home. He took a few steps backwards, then dashed at the edge of the building and jumped; his powerful legs propelling him a large distance away; and started running. As the wind rushed through his spikes and the sunlight shimmered off of his fur, Sonic laughed and sped at his highest speed towards the mountains. He revelled in the feel of nature around him.
"I could run forever!"
