I wrote this poem in the perspective of Mai trying, and failing miserably (but still trying), to get over her romantic inclinations towards Naru. It would take place shortly after he returned to England.
"i loved you once
in silence.
blooming musings
held by unspoken fancies
ideas lacking words
titles shaming names
ideas painted
in lieu of one begotten phrase
stories told in muted verse
secrets shared with a traded gaze
you were Peter Pan
and i was not Wendy as i presumed,
but Tink.
we would blossom
believe, learn to fly
trying to make sense of things
of the ghosts and their fairy dust anarchy
of our tossed and ruffled pairing
thrown together
green-thumbed girls would scowl
courting envy
well, they would if they could
but they didn't
my dreams set to ashes
your winsome name suffocated
behind still lips
just another bomb in a birdcage
i loved you once
in silence
and still do to this day"
