Ahh, the real-life game of Town of Salem. Where people are murdered every year and have to use logic to win. I never liked it, especially since lives are actually taken here. No one knows how to "defy the rules and sky", which apparently is something related to the players and the only way to stop the game. Some people had a theory that since there is a random telescope in each house, you're supposed to study the clouds. I don't know how's clouds are supposed to tell people something, besides the weather. Some people have even attempted to change the weather. Personally, I don't think they're doing it right. I think "the sky" refers to something higher tan clouds. No one seems to get why only twelve people compete, not the usual fifteen. And, of course, since this is supposed to be interesting, it's a bunch of middle-schoolers from around the U.S.

Hi, my name is Vicky, and I'm twelve years old. I never thought I would be chosen as a player, but I was, and I knew unless I figured out how to stop the game, to "defy the rules and sky", I don't think I could ever make it out alive. This is my story:

"Hey, you wanna get some cupcakes for a little birthday celebration?" That's my friend Maggie. OMG, I love cupcakes. There's a bakery a block from my house, and it's pretty damn convenient. We went down to the bakery, and there was a mailman in front of the bakery. Apparently, the mailman wanted the bakery man to give someone something, but IDK what.

"Hey ladies, what would you like today?"

"Two chocolate cupcakes with strawberry frosting and a cherry on top."

"So, it's pretty warm out. It's not even spring yet."

"Oh come one, it's only three days away."

"Last time I checked, it you "almost" won the lottery, you don't gain any money. Anyway here are your cupcakes, and a mailman told me to give this to you. It a special letter of some sort, but I haven't looked at it yet. See you later!"

"Ok, bye."

Huh, that's weird. Couldn't the mailman just put it in my mailbox? He does seem new, though. Maybe he's new around here. Then again, I don't see an address on the envelope either. Could it be? No, it can't.

"Dear Vinnie,
I am happy to announce that you are the twelfth player in the "The Live Game of Salem." Please pack all the belongings you would like to take with you and report to O'Hare Airport at midnight. Ask for the SunStar Plane, and they will take you there. Since you are the last one, you will also see the other competitors on the plane. Get ready, because you're about to experience the time of your life.

From,
TLGOS Team

P.S Your role is Medium."

Well, sweet, I'm twelve, I'm number twelve in the twelfth annual game of TLGOS, and I leave at twelve tonight. How convenient. IDK if I can do this.

"Don't worry, you'll be fine, you're really smart."

"That's real reassuring to hear from you."

It was dinnertime, and I told her about the letter. My brother, Trenton, tried to comfort me, but it wasn't making me any happier. Why me, though. Many people just assume that everyone is chosen randomly, but I don't believe that, as the makers of TLGOS never mentioned how the players are picked. I feel like if they were truly chosen randomly, the makers should have mentioned something about it. I already had my things packed, because I didn't have much to pack. I'm actually a tough nut inside, even though the boys at school always tease me for being a fish girl. Come on, I'm not that clumsy. I packed my things early so that I could maybe take a small nap and play some online games of TOS.

Soon enough, it's midnight, and it's time for me to go. I sure hope I won't make a complete fool out of myself, even though I probably will. One thing's for sure though. I better hope med's curse doesn't screw me up. Otherwise, I could say I had a really pathetic life, and I don't wanna say I had a really pathetic life. I seriously don't. I reach the front desk at O'Hare and ask for the SunStar plane. A kind lady shows me the way.

"So... are you ready for TLGOS?"

"I probably never will."

"Well, I hate to say this, but too bad. You're in the game anyway. Do you know what I think is funny? Everyone gets their letter at different times. One each month. Am I the only that finds that weird?"

"Well, I never knew that. How did you know that?"

"My sister was in the games too. I'm sad to say that she died, and for a stupid reason. She was vigilante, and she was about to shoot the jester when a stupid transporter caused her to shoot the mayor instead. The town lynched her for that, but for her last words, she said 'Wait, guys, before you hang me for this, I realized what "defying the rules and sky" means. Rules are simple, but for the sky, you have to contrast your sign. Your...' She was hung before she could finish her sentence, but she did leave this for me." My escort took out an electric blue stone with two triangular-like wave/lines. I feel like I had seen that symbol before.

I didn't even realize we were already at the plane. It was time to say goodbye to the life I knew, to the life I was destined to live. I'm not very good at surviving or logic. Unless I can figure out how to "defy the rules and sky", I don't think I would pull through. The only lead I have is "signs", and I don't think that's gonna get me far, but hey, at least it's something.
