Sitting in the front row while some man talked about how loving my mother was (Ha!), if only he knew. After the funeral was over, people came over to give their condolences.
'God must not like me' I thought. 'He took my grandparents, then my dad, and now my mother'.
"I so sorry for your lost Isabella" said some woman I did not even know the name of said.
"Thank you and thank you for coming out today" The woman nodded her head and walked out of the doors.
As the last of the people come to say something to me, someone I recognized came to stand in front of me. My old friend Edward that I always had a crush on in high school, but when college came around he went to a college in New York and I went to a college right here in Washington.
'EDWARD!" I said jumping up, I almost jumped into his arms I was so happy to see him.
"Bella how are you, are you okay, I was so worried when Alice called and told me." I just stared at him trying to think of why he would fly all the way from New York to Forks, Washington .I could not think of one reason.
"Bella?" I looked up into his deep sad green eyes and realized I spaced out for a bit.
"I'm sorry Edward, I just so happy and…..confused to see you here." I looked up at him and saw embarrassed filled eyes
"Why are you here Edward?"
"Like I said before you spaced out" he looked me in the eyes and I blushed. "I've been here just outside of town for a couple of days, and just yesterday Alice called and told me she was reading the newspaper when she looked at the obituaries and saw Renee and under the picture it said "Loved wife and mother. We will all miss you." After I did not speak for a little bit he went on. "Anyway Renee was like a second mother too me, and this is a small town, everyone knows everyone's business." He gave me his famous smile that every girl in high school loved him for and I just had to smile. I started to cry thinking of how Renee teased Edward and me saying we would grow up to be married and have kids together. We would just laugh and say no way! I started to cry harder thinking of all the things she is going to miss in my life, who I get married to, when I have kids. The tears fall from my eyes soundlessly. Edward raised his hand and wiped them away with his thumb.
I looked away from him. Edward took my chin in his hand and turned my face to look into his beautiful green eyes. "Um…. I…..I need to go talk to other people." I stumbled out, finally looking away.
"Oh, yeah….Bella I'll be in town for a little bit longer and I just want you to now to call me if you want to talk or need anything, okay?"He looked at me with concerned eyes.
"I'll call you Edward. I might need to talk to someone." I said smiling sadly at him.
"Okay then bye Bella, and I'm so very sorry." He said hugging me one more time before looking into my eyes and walking away.
I then turned back to my sad and depressing little life.
