Elphaba lay awake for what seemed like hours. Galinda seemed to be sound asleep. Elphaba would have groaned, but she didn't want to wake her.

It had been Galinda's idea to spend their spring break at her families summer home, and, once Galinda Upland has her heart set in a certain idea, no one is aloud to rest until that idea becomes a reality. Unfortunately there were only two bedrooms, and Nessa had only agreed to come if she could have her own room. Galinda and Elphaba took the other bedroom, and Boq and Fiyero were left sleeping in the cramped living room.

Right now it was Galinda's turn to sleep in the bed, and Elphaba was currently lying on a thick blanket. Her back ached, from the hours of trying to sleep on the hard wood floor. Finally deciding that it was pointless to pretend that she would ever be able to fall asleep, she pulled herself up and crept out of the room.

Going for a walk wasn't going to help her drift off, but she would rather get some fresh air than waist anymore time pretending to count sheep. When she opened the door of the house she imminently noticed that she was not alone. She didn't think that Fiyero had noticed her until he turned his head to face her.

"Couldn't sleep either?" He asked with a knowing smile. Elphaba nodded.

"Galinda's out like a light", she mused.

"So is Boq." Fiyero turned his head to the sky as he spoke. "The stars seem to shine brighter here than they do at Shiz."

"There're like this a Munchkinland", Elphaba remarked, her thoughts turning to her home.

"Do you miss Munchkinland", Fiyero asked, as if reading her mind.

"No as much as one would think." She answered. "I call it my home, but I never felt welcome there."

Fiyero nodded, thinking hard on her words.

"I think I miss my home." He said, slowly. "It feels like a million years since I've been there."

He paused, a blissful smile found its way to his lips. "The stars were bright there."

His voice sounded distant. Elphaba was a little surprised to see this side if the prince. She was about to say something when he turned suddenly, breaking his eye's lock on the night sky. "I'm going to try to get some rest", he said, waking briskly toward the house.

Elphaba watched him go, only looking away when the door had swung shut behind him. She smiled to herself as her gaze met the stars that had seemed to hypnotize him. They really were beautiful.
