Spiral
She sat locked in her room, fingers clutching the bed sheets beneath her. Her pulse raced a thousand miles an hour as she tried to keep from shattering into pieces. Frayed nerves tugged at her will, pushing her to succumb to the pain, ease the gnawing in her gut.
Sweat dripped from every pore as she tried to sleep, recoup her strength. She was stronger than this. She had to be. If she wasn't then she'd lost everything; her friends, lover, herself.
She couldn't spiral out of control. Not if she wanted to be who she used to be.
