Title: Things that Form

Rating: Definitely an M . . . with a big capital M

Disclaimer: Don't own anything House, but don't have to cause the series writers seem to have it all under control.

Authors notes: I love House and I like the direction they are taking House and Cuddy – particularly the whole unconventional romance thing. My personal opinion is that they can both see the pain they each feel reflected in the other, and this tiny drabble is essentially about how their intimacy can perhaps lay that in the open and let them come to an understanding. Oh look, my notes are almost as long as the drabble . . . enjoy.

As he rocked inside her, his lips travelled the length of her neck. Her hands were splayed across his shoulder, her lips open, her hair tousled around her head and her eyes closed. Leaving her neck, he looked down at her, at the expression that suffused her face with a beauty that he had never before seen on her. His fingers lightly touched her hair before trailing down her cheek, her neck, down to her breasts. In this moment he couldn't feel his pain; nor could he see hers. But he knew it was there, and he wanted to drive it from her, as the medicines he mastered drew illness and disease from his patients.

She opened her eyes and gazed up at him, there was an understanding in her eyes; they were more alike than either one liked to admit. With both hands she pulled him to her, and even as their lovemaking reached a fervour, she embraced him gently. As his orgasm hit him, he buried his head in her neck, his lips slightly opened, moistly pressed against her skin, a caress, a kiss, a connection that she hoped meant the start of something good for both of them.
