"I want much more than this provincial life"
So they think I am going nowhere in life with my books? Ha, do they go somewhere with those beers? With the gossip? With stucking their noses in other people's life? Just leave me alone! Leave us alone! You uneducated people say my papa is crazy? Well, what do you do at your free time? Go and tease innocent people! Throwing my books on the mud and sayin' that I am going nowhere in life!
For your information, papa works on inventions which would improve our lives. I am exploring new worlds, which would help me when I get to come to these new worlds. I am enriching my knowladge so when I move on in life, to those places, encountring new people, I would know how to react, I would understand what's happening, why they're the way they are, all thanks to the books I've read.
Then you, dear village neighbors, Gaston, Le Fu, Bimbettes, classmates, teacher, hairdresser, grocerymen, baker... All of you who say I am going nowhere in life... Just watch and you'll see. Someday when you still would keep complaining, gossip and mocking each other, I won't be here anymore. I will go to much bigger places, which can be found in the books, succeed, explore real new worlds, and you- you'd stay here, with this provincial life.
Author's note: Belle is the animated character I can most relate to. A girl who's not going by the stream, that preferes staying home instead of hanging out and getting drunk or whatever... These are her thoughts after she gets teased again once in her village while going to the library. Poor Belle :( But one day, she'd show them that being narrow-minded is not going to help them either... Having less social life, and having more "homy life", may be her way to be open minded, instead of getting influenced by of those vulgars at her little town.
