I don't own The Last Song
"We have a lung," the doctor announced.
Ronnie looked up.
"What," she asked curiously.
"Well as you know your father's lungs were failure and we now have a lung for him. We are schuduling him for surgery on the hour."
"Wait," Ronnie said, "My dad is gonna get better?"
"It's possible yes," the doctor said, "This is his only chance"
"Who was the donor," Ronnie asked.
"It's a living doner," the doctor said, "and just one lung since a man cannot live without at least one lung."
"WHO IS HE," Ronnie yelled.
"Well lets just say Will loves you very much"
"WHAT! You mean to tell me HE IS GIVING MY FATHER HIS LUNG," Ronnie exclaimed amazed.
"That would be an accurate statement yes," the doctor replied.
...
The surgery took 16 hours. Her father came through it with flying colors. Of course he would have to learn to live with one lung but that was better then two diseased ones. After Will came out of recover Ronnie was allowed to see him. He was on morphine but alert.
"Will," Ronnie said, "That was the most incredable thing you ever did for me"
"It was nothing," she said.
"NOTHING? You gave my father a lung. You gave me more time with my dad. That is NOT nothing. That is a HUGE something."
"Ronnie I love you," he said, "And I'm..."
He couldn't finish the rest of the sentence because he fell asleep but he would wait up a few hours later.
