Hey everyone. This is just a small funny oneshot idea that came to my head after seeing this similar scenario twice during the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest. Enjoy!
In a small store in Denerim, the mighty Grey Wardin stood scanning the shops collection. The Grey Wardin had once been a Human Noble of the Cousland family, Teyrn of Highever, but after the death of most of his family and his meeting with Duncan, he had forsaken it all and sought only to fight the Darkspawn (though he one day planned to exact revenge on that bastard Arl Howe).
Next to him on his left, fellow Grey Warden Alistair scanned what was on sale as well. On the other side of the shop, Zevran surveyed the various attires that had been put on display. On the other side of the Grey Warden, Morrigan looked at the shopowner with a look of disdain…well, one with more disdain than usual.
"You would force customers to pay this much for Health Poultices?" Morrigan snarled in her usual mocking voice "this is highway robbery. I've seen them sold for half this price all over Feraldon!"
"In that case, go to those stores and buy from them," replied the shop owner with equal ire. He was a tall, skinny man with pale skin and neck length black hair.
"I guess we've got no choice. We're desperately short on Poultices, and this is the only place we can buy them." Alistair sighed. The former Human noble sighed with defeat.
"Very well. We'll take five of your Health Poultices." The Grey Warden said. As the shop owner prepared the Poultices, the Grey Warden noticed the door leading to what seemed to be a storage room to his left. Since no one in the past had stopped him looking in their storage rooms before, the Grey Warden inquisitively walked towards it.
"H-hey? What the bloody hell are you doing?" the shop owner shrieked at him, stepping out of the counter and standing between the Grey Warden and the storage room.
"I was just gonna take a look inside" the Grey Warden said innocently. It was half true, he'd look inside and take a few things for himself. No one ever complained, even if he had Zevran pick the lock.
"I bloody know that! You can't just enter someone's back room like it's your own!" the shop owner growled. Zevran, Alistair and Morrigan stood beside the former Human Noble.
"He's hiding something. I can tell" Morrigan stated.
"You think so?" Zevran asked.
"Of course. It was the same when we met that Weylon fellow, or in that shop in Haven. They were both hiding something, or rather, someone's body."
The Grey Warden nodded and reached for his Greatsword "a good point. All right demon, tell us what you're hiding!"
"W-w-w-what? No! I just don't want people rummaging through my storage room!" the shop owner pleaded, cowering as he fell backwards.
"Enough demon! You shall pay for your misdeeds!" the Grey Warden roared. With one might slash down, he sliced the shop owners head clean off, the head thumping onto the ground as his body collapsed, blood staining the floor around them.
Alistair quickly went into the storage room to investigate, whilst Zevran kicked the body softly "Hmm, that's odd. He's not a monster of some kind, his body hasn't changed form."
"Umm…guys?" Alistair popped his head out of the room, a look of concern on his face "there's nothing suspicious inside this storage room."
"That's impossible! Why would he have stopped us if he wasn't hiding something?" The Grey Warden insisted.
"Perhaps he genuinely didn't want us snooping around his storage room." Zevran shrugged. The Grey Warden looked at him, and slowly looked down at the decapitated shop owner.
"Oooh….woops."
