Untold

Part 1

The kingdom of Altana was long ago divided into 7 principalities, each ruled by its own sacred royal line. The eldest son of each family rose to the role of prince upon turning 17, at which time he assumed control of his family's land. A monarch of most sacred bloodline ruled the whole of the kingdom. This bloodline took the name Etheiin. Every member of the Etheiin family shared the same piercing blue eyes, fair golden hair, and pearlescent skin; and it was said that no other mortal could compare to their innate glimmering beauty. There had only been one recorded moment in the history of Altana when an Etheiin did not rule. It was known as the year of Yonder, year 29 of the Altanian calendar, when a man by the name Humoro ascended the throne after the king Yoron Etheiin had died at the early age of 27 and had left only a son of 10 years. With no other male Etheiin to take the throne, Humoro, Yoron's adviser, took the throne until Yoron's son came of age. That year, the crops failed and the kingdom of Elnaught invaded. Since that time it was pronounced that if any non-Etheiin were to rule again, chaos would strike, and Altana would fall.

After Humoro had ruled for a year and the rumors began to circulate about the curse, Humoro abdicated the throne for fear of revolt. To appease the people, he restored Yoron's son Paerim to the monarchy at age 11. He attempted to remain as the advisor to Paerim and make the majority of the political decisions for the boy until he came of age, but the people still believed him a harbinger of bad fortune, and he was forced to leave Altana.

The year 36 had been heralded as the year of Cornucopia, a premonition of abundance, which to the people of Altana, prophesized the year the King would come of age, take over duties from the new adviser Torift, and (in all hopes) marry and have children, securing the continuation of the Etheiin line and the future prosperity of Altana. For all the people in Etheiin knew that Paerim was the last of the Etheiin line, and if he did not produce a child, Etheiin blood would disappear, and their nation fall to ruin.

But, for all that the people of Altana knew of their beloved royalty, a secret stirred within the Altanian palace. A beast that had the power to disgrace the Etheiin name…
